Esports professionals may finally get better-quality sleep after late nights practising in online ranked modes.
Cambridge Sleep Sciences (CSS) has announced the Tech Co Performance Pillow, a purpose-built recovery pillow engineered for gamers and athletes.
UK-based sleep technology company CSS’s audio-based SleepEngine™technology aims to support natural sleep by re-training the brain to follow healthy sleep patterns.
It’s claimed the Performance Pillow is designed to improve sleep quality and enhance performance in sport or day-to-day life.
The Tech Co Performance Pillow has been created in partnership with AchieveMinds, Ultrahuman, and Tech Co.
Broich claims: “Players don’t just win in the arena; they win in recovery. With the Performance Pillow, we’re turning sleep into a trainable edge.”
Additionally, the pillow is designed to work with the Ultrahuman Ring AIR, a wearable smart ring which analyses the wearer’s quality of sleep.
However, this is a significant investment as the ring costs $349 (£255), although other versions are available.
That’s on top of the £499 price point for the Tech Co Performance Pillow.
The Tech Co Performance Pillow is said to have the following features:
- Adaptive sleep training: The pillow adjusts its sleep‐support programme based on Ultrahuman Ring AIR markers,
- This helps users prepare for peak focus and faster recovery following late‐night matches or heavy training days.
- CSS SleepEngine™: The integrated unit delivers CSS’s clinically proven audio‐based sleep support, designed to help users fall asleep more easily and improve sleep quality.
- Engineered for performance: Contoured, supportive construction designed for head and cervical alignment, suitable for varied sleeping positions common among athletes.
- Out‐of‐the‐box integration: Every pillow ships with an Ultrahuman Ring sizing kit in the box to make getting started seamless.
The Tech Co Performance Pillow statistics
Launching at the Dubai Esports Arena, CSS will present new trial results showing both objective and subjective sleep improvements in gamers.
According to CSS, wearable data analysis from the Ultrahuman Ring AIR revealed significant increases in REM sleep (+28%).
Additionally, their data found reductions in awake time (–31%), and improved sleep efficiency.
Participants’ self-reported PSQI sleep quality scores also improved significantly at later timepoints, confirming users not only slept better but felt better rested.
Adam Rostom, CEO of CSS says:
“What excites us most is that both objective data from wearables and subjective PSQI feedback point in the same direction.
“Users are gaining more REM sleep, less wake time, and report higher-quality rest. That convergence is rare in sleep-tech and gives us real confidence.”
