Esports News UK spoke to Mouz’s Jimi ‘Jimpphat’ Salo after their 2-0 defeat to Vitality in the Semi-Finals of BLAST Open London.
The defeat was Mouz’s eighth defeat of the year to Vitality, who now hold an 8-1 record over the young international roster, but Mouz had won the previous contest at IEM Cologne 2025.
Jimpphat discussed what went wrong in the match and how they will be approaching the future.
Post-Match interview with Mouz’s Jimpphat
Your reflections on the match?
It sucks to lose again, after losing so many times. Last time we won, but still.
We really wanted to win this tournament, especially before this big break we’ll have, but we didn’t do it, so if feels bad.
On Mirage, you had a series of A hits shut down. Was that a result of not being able to get space elsewhere?
I think on Mirage, at first we started really good, then we lost one of the anti-ecos where we went out four guys mid, and they came out mid and farmed us, they just dominated us and killed all of us.
Then after that, we were maybe a little bit down mentally, then after that, we were a little bit down mentally. Still, we came back and tried to hit some A hits; it was in the game plan in a way.
But at the same time, they read us and stacked A in many of the rounds. They got the multikills; we couldn’t get the trade kills.
I don’t know exactly what happened. I’ll have to go back and look.
We tried to do it, but it didn’t go our way. In CS, sometimes you don’t get the kills, then it’s really tough.
What does it feel like against Vitality when they’re all shooting hard?
It’s, of course, really tough. They’re a really good team with a lot of good pieces.
At the same time, they’re individually one of the best, if not the best. On their good days, it’s really hard to play against them because if you aren’t instant, you will get instantly hit back.
So against Vitality, you have to hope that you are really sharp, or you just play really good CS.
I think today we fell a little bit short on both, and I think they had a really good day, aiming-wise, and they played really well today.
So they completely deserved the victory against us.
From a team perspective, what do you think wasn’t working today?
I think, as a team today, we gave lots of entries then it became really tough to play against in 4v5. Sometimes we got a trade, but sometimes we couldn’t finish it.
Mostly, the trades didn’t go our way, to be honest.
We did what we talked about before the game, in the game plan, stuff like that, but we f**cked up some stuff.
For example, on the Inferno T-pistol, we wanted to rush B, but then we blocked ourselves on the ramp.
Like somebody was not moving or hunting, I’m not sure what happened, but we just blocked ourselves, and then one guy is rushing alone, and it looks really stupid.
So I just think there were many mistakes from our end that shouldn’t have happened.
How are you going to make the next step to improve how the roster looks going forward?
Going forward from this, we will have a break, a well-deserved break.
We’ll have now maybe one week off or so, if not a little bit more, because we’ve been on a 40-day stretch with tournaments where we haven’t gone home a single time.
Before this tournament, we had maybe five days at home, so we’ll look to have a break.
Then the next tournament after us is EPL (Pro League Season 22), and we’ll just look to get some quality practice before then and hopefully manage to fix some mistakes we made here, and take it from there.
