Following a dominant win against FURIA, G2 join Team Vitality as BLAST London Finalists.
Their 2-0 result puts the BLAST Open Fall trophy within reach, but G2 will face tough competition from Vitality in the Grand Final.
G2 dominate Semifinals to become BLAST London Finalists
Despite the presence of passionate FURIA fans in the crowd, G2 immediately built momentum in their first map on Inferno. FURIA were left trailing, with G2 in control of the narrative.
All chances of a comeback were denied, and Map 1 ended on a 13-5 score to G2.
Mirage had the potential to bring FURIA back into the game. The team held an eight-game win streak on Mirage before this tournament.
However, Map 2 unfortunately did not offer any more opportunities for FURIA than Inferno. G2 continued to snowball towards becoming BLAST London Finalists. They were able to close out the map on a score of 13-5 once again.
Matúš ‘matys’ Šimko told Esports News UK, “I think we are really happy we show that we can play against the best teams in the world, no matter what paper shows.” He also shared that the G2 roster feels stronger on stage, explaining, “We can play very much stronger under pressure, I would say right now, as compared to online.”
Overall, it is G2’s ruthless determination that has earned them their place as BLAST London Finalists.

BLAST Open Fall Final: Who will take the trophy?
Their win against FURIA was impressive. However, G2 will need to pull off a remarkable underdog performance to snatch the win from the favourites on Counter-Strike betting sites, Team Vitality.
Since qualification for the Playoffs, Team Vitality have conveyed optimism and determination to raise the BLAST Open Fall trophy. They are the most unsurprising BLAST London Finalists, given their impressive early 2025 win streak.
Nevertheless, their recent downturn is something that they have cautiously kept in mind. Vitality legend Mathieu ‘ZywOo’ Herbaut told ENUK that it was their individual performances in particular that they wanted to improve.
He expressed that if they made these improvements, “Team Vitality can be back in the game really easily.”
Their victory over MOUZ in their own Semifinal match demonstrated that whatever they felt was missing has returned. Most likely, they were able to reconnect with their drive to win thanks to the added motivation to support UK teammate William ‘mezii’ Merriman on his home turf.
Vitality’s re-energised roster will be a formidable opponent for G2.

However, G2’s Nemanja ‘huNter’ Kovač seemed unfazed by the challenges ahead in his interview with Esports News UK earlier this tournament.
In his words, “I think we have really strong firepower, and I believe in each and every one in the team.”
He also affirmed that although many will debate their chances against a team like Vitality, the roster is taking the approach of “trying to focus on ourselves, no matter what, and play our game.”
Matys also reflect this sentiment: “We will try to be confident and also humble at the same time because we respect our opponents.”
