Marvel Rivals is coming to PS4 to let last gen players join in

A new trailer has revealed that Marvel Rivals will be available on old-gen consoles for the first time.

The Marvel-based hero shooter is coming to PlayStation 4 with the release of Season 4 on September 12th.

Rumours had been circulating for a while that Marvel Rivals would release on the console which will turn 12 years old in November.

Now it has been confirmed at the very end of the Marvel Rivals Season 4 trailer.

As you can also see in the thumbnail, PS4 is listed alongside PS5 for the upcoming update.

This was then further confirmed by NetEase Creative Director Guangguang, who in the latest Dev Vision said:

“Marvel Rivals will be available on PS4 on September 12th.

“We sincerely appreciate everyone’s support and are committed to delivering an even better experience in the future.”

No other details have been shared, though it’s assumed that PS4 players will be able to benefit from crossplay.

This means PS5 players will be able to play with friends who only have a PS4.

However, PS5 owners may have to download the PS4 version of the game to work, as has been the case with many other games.

Many are understandably concerned about how well Marvel Rivals will run on the PS4.

A lot of the community is joking that Dr Strange is going to become stronger, claiming his portal will destroy PS4s.

Still, this update could be good news for Nintendo Switch 2 users.

If the PS4 can handle Marvel Rivals, then the new handheld console should be able to as well.

Nothing has been reported yet about an Xbox One version of the game. That will likely depend on how the PS4 version performs.

Marvel Rivals Season 4 trailer confirms Angela and Daredevil

The new season trailer has confirmed that Angela and Daredevil are coming to Marvel Rivals as playable heroes.

Angela is the next hero to be released, and it has already been confirmed that she will be a tanky vanguard character.

It has also been revealed that she will have a team-up with Thor, but that hasn’t been showcased yet.

Daredevil will be released during Season 4.5, but no further details have been announced.

There have also been rumours, based on leaked voice lines, that Deadpool will eventually be added to the game too.

The future is looking bright for the game, especially with its esports scene gaining steam.

With no franchising plans for Marvel Rivals esports, the game appears to be headed in a good direction.
