British EA FC superstar Tekkz leaves Manchester City Esports

EA FC esports star Donovan ‘Tekkz’ Hunt has announced he has left Manchester City after two years with the Premier League club.

The English FC pro has established himself as one of the biggest names in the game’s esports scene.

He won the ePremier League with the club in both seasons he competed.

This made history as Tekkz, playing with Matias Bonanno, became the first player to win the ePremier League twice before then winning it a third time.

It also led to Manchester City becoming the first club to win the competition twice.

However, outside of the ePremier League Tekkz wasn’t able to win any other tournaments.

At the recent Esports World Cup, he crashed out of the Quarterfinals after losing 6-5 to Guilherme ‘GuiBarros’ Barros.

Manchester City also announced that fellow FC pro Ander ‘Neat’ Tobal has departed the club too.

He finished second in eLiga Portugal while on loan at Portuguese side Santa Clara and failed to qualify for the Esports World Cup.

However, Manchester City still appear committed to esports with Bonanno remaining at the club and Brazilian Gustavo ‘GugaFerraz’ Ferraz signing just last month.

Though, following the departure of Tekkz, Manchester City may no longer be favourites on esports betting sites for the next ePremier League.

With EA FC 26 releasing soon, it’s a busy period for esports pros who are choosing clubs for the next season.

Though the big transfer news came before the World Championship, as Team Falcons signed one of the world’s best EA FC pros in Vejrgang.

Tekkz’s EA FC career journey so far

Tekkz burst onto the esports scene at 16 years old when he won his first tournament, the FUT Champions Cup in Barcelona and took home $22k (£16k).

His flashy gameplay and strong results then caught the eyes of former British football content creators, the F2 Freestylers, who signed him to a contract.

A year later, he was promptly snatched up by British esports organisation Fnatic.

Tekkz spent four years with Fnatic and won various trophies, including the eChampions League 2020 Invitational.

Fnatic then left EA FC esports during the cycle of EA FC 24, so Tekkz moved to Manchester City with a focus on the ePremier League.

Tekkz has also regularly represented England in various tournaments, including multiple eNations Cups of which he won the 2021 iteration.

It’s not yet known who Tekkz will sign for next, though the Esports World Cup Club Championship means more esports organisations may be looking at him.

Content creation could also be a valid option for the Englishman, as his YouTube channel is close to hitting 1 million subscribers.
