100 Thieves announce Demon Slayer anime collaboration

North American esports organisation 100 Thieves have announced a new collaboration with the hit anime, Demon Slayer.

No information has yet been revealed, including whether this will be a merchandise partnership but more information will be revealed on Friday, September 5th.

Though the caption of “Enter the Infinity Compound” from the teaser gives a big clue.

The collaboration clearly involves the upcoming Demon Slayer Infinity Castle movie, which releases on September 12th.

The teaser also shows the 100 Thieves Compound, which suggests an event will take place at the 15,000 square foot venue.

Whatever this collaboration is, it also involves anime media distributors Aniplex.

Various esports organisations have previously secured anime collabs through streaming service Crunchyroll.

One of them is Sentinels who released a merchandise collection with volleyball anime Haikyuu!!

Team Liquid had a partnership with Demon Slayer back in November 2024, releasing various pieces of merchandise.

100 Thieves themselves have partnered with a few anime shows in the past as well.

The North American organisation released a merchandise collection inspired by Dragon Ball Z back in 2023.

And they also released a merchandise collection in collaboration with Attack on Titan the year prior to that.

It’s an ongoing trend that esports organisations partner with other entertainment industries as fandoms blend together.

It’s why K/DA was such a success and League of Legends icon Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok is making K-pop music video cameos.

From anime, K-pop, traditional sports, film, and television there are plenty of possible avenues.

Anime and esports collaborations

And while there are many possible collaboration routes, anime and esports is a duo that just makes sense.

A lot of esports pro players and supporters alike are also massive fans of anime which makes sense considering both scenes are very nerdy.

Unsurpirsingly, there have been plenty of collaborations and crossovers between the two in the past in addition to this 100 Thieves announcement.

As mentioned earlier, Crunchyroll has previously worked with various esports organisations in the past.

The streaming service helped launch My Hero Academia merch with both FURIA and TSM.

Crunchyroll also partnered with the Esports World Cup to help create anime-based events in Riyadh to accompany the tournaments.

As well as Demon Slayer, Team Liquid have also released merchandise based on Naruto and Death Note.

While Cloud9 previously released a collection of merchandise in collaboration with One Piece.

As anime surges in popularity, many video games have also secured anime partnerships over the years.

PUBG Mobile released in-game content based on Attack on Titan earlier this year.

While Overwatch 2 has multiple anime skin lines based on Gundam, One Punch Man, Cowboy Bebop and My Hero.
