Is the zont1x transfer cancelled? Team Spirit’s roster delay, explained

Rumours continue to circulate regarding the Team Spirit zont1x transfer.

Initially, speculation was that roster changes would be made after the Esports World Cup. However, the organisation’s IEM Chengdu roster announcement suggested he will remain with them for the November tournament.

What is the zont1x transfer?

Initially, reports from various Counter-Strike news outlets suggested that Myroslav ‘zont1x’ Plakhotia was due to be replaced by Andrey ‘tN1R’ Tatarinovich from HEROIC.

These reports also stated that tN1R would join the Team Spirit roster after the conclusion of the Esports World Cup.

Many fans were shocked by the news. Team Spirit recently won both BLAST Bounty 2025 and IEM Cologne. The roster reaffirmed their ability to dominate top teams, and they became one of the favourites on Counter-Strike betting sites to win upcoming titles such as BLAST Open Fall and IEM Chengdu. A roster change during such success is uncommon. 

However, zont1x will be competing for Team Spirit in the BLAST Open following the Esports World Cup’s conclusion. Additionally, the organisation’s post confirming their attendance at IEM Chengdu in November shows zont1x with the rest of the team on a graphic.

Now that Team Spirit have seemingly confirmed zont1x will compete with them at IEM Chengdu in November, some doubt whether the zont1x transfer is happening at all.

Is zont1x still on Team Spirit?

Currently, yes. It appears as though zont1x will remain on the Team Spirit roster until November 9th. 

Nevertheless, this does not guarantee his future on the roster after Chengdu. 

There is also the possibility that Team Spirit will make a last-minute change. All 16 IEM Chengdu 2025 teams have been confirmed. However, all 16 teams also retain the ability to make roster changes up to October 20th, 2025, as long as they maintain a roster core. 

As a result, he could be removed from the roster in favour of tN1R before November. This can only occur if Team Spirit completes the zont1x transfer before October 20th. 

Will tN1R still transfer to Team Spirit’s roster?

HEROIC have confirmed that tN1R will definitely be leaving their roster. Regardless of when, or if, the zont1x transfer goes ahead, tN1R is heading to a new home.

Although most online discourse discusses the transfer as if it is confirmed, fans will likely need to wait for an official announcement from Team Spirit to know for certain if this is the case. 

BLAST Open Fall 2025 begins soon, and Team Spirit will be competing with zont1x on their roster. Therefore, we know that tN1R will not join until that tournament is over on September 7th. 

The most likely windows for the zont1x transfer with tN1R to take place would be September 9th to October 20th, or after IEM Chengdu ends on November 9th.
