T1’s Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok became the first player to reach 700 wins in the LCK, reaching the milestone before anyone else had reached 600.
The feat was achieved as T1 handily dispatched KT Rolster in 2-0 fashion, continuing the strong form T1 has shown in the summer split of LCK.
The Korean org has only dropped three games in their seven contests during the split, all to Gen.G as they ended Gen.G’s winning streak in the LCK with a 2-1 in their homecoming event, before losing to Gen.G 1-2 in Week 12 of the LCK in a series that cemented Gen.G as esports betting sites favourites for the World 2025 title.
T1’s strong form means they are guaranteed to make the playoffs, but cannot catch Gen.G, who currently sit at an overall record of 23-1. They can, however, catch Hanwha Life Esports (HLE), who they will play next on August 15. LCK’s regular season ends on August 31, with the playoffs beginning September 10.
Faker’s records include:
- The only 5 times Worlds Champion
- Only two-times Worlds MVP
- The only 10 times LCK Champion
- The only player to twice defend his Worlds title (2015/16 & 2023/24)
- Most Worlds finals (7)
- Longest stay at one organisation (currently 12 years 6 months)
- Most wins in the LCK (700)
Faker was also the first to reach 600 in February of 2024. At that time, Kim ‘Deft’ Hyuk-kyu was second in the leaderboard with 442 wins, but he has now fallen to fourth with 484.
Both HLE jungler Han ‘Peanut’ Wang-ho (531 wins) and Faker’s midlane rival Jeong ‘Chovy’ Ji-hoon of Gen.G (488) have surpassed Deft, who left KT Rolster last November, now fulfilling his military service.
With Chovy 222 wins behind but four years Faker’s junior, is the Gen.G midlaner on course to match the record? Chovy may challenge Faker one day, but Faker’s longevity at the very top is unprecedented, and he shows no signs of slowing down.
Another record Faker holds? The oldest player to win Worlds at 28 years, 5 months, and 27 days. Will he and T1 break that record again in Chengdu at Worlds 2025? Nothing seems impossible for the (Ageless) Unkillable Demon King.
Perhaps Faker will be extra motivated to get his 10th skin in the game, following the news that he would receive Yone and also Prestige Sylas due to winning Worlds 2024. Faker in total has six skins from worlds, three from being the first inductee into the Hall of Fame.
