It’s Week 6 at the Esports World Cup, and that officially means we’re at the business end of the seven-week event. EWC Week 6 sees Tekken 8, Rocket League, PUBG, and TFT all in action in Riyadh.
We have all the info to keep you up-to-date with what’s happening at the Esports World Cup.
Rocket League at EWC 2025
Date: August 14-17
Prize pool: $1,010,000
First place: $400,000
Format:
Group Stage: Four groups of four, double-elimination. Two teams progress from each group.
Playoffs: Eight-team single-elimination bracket with a Third/Fourth place decider.
Rocket League will be a huge test for Team Falcons, following their victory in Raleigh. The team were regarded as a ‘so close yet so far’ roster prior to Raleigh, so many times being the bridesmaid but never the bride in Rocket League’s biggest tournaments. Raleigh changed that. Now they have found their golden touch, can they keep it?
Dignitas, Karmine Corp, NRG, Vitality and more will try to prevent this Falcons roster from becoming a dynasty, starting at EWC.
Tekken 8 at EWC 2025
Dates: August 13-16
Prize pool: $1,000,000
1st place: $250,000
Format:
First group stage: Eight groups of four, double elimination. Two qualify from each group. All matches are Best of 3.
Second group stage: Four groups of four, double elimination. Two qualify from each group. All matches are Best of 3.
Playoff stage: Single-elimination with a Third/Fourth place decider. All matches are Best of 5.
Tekken 8 comes only a few weeks after EVO, where Tekken legend Arslan Ash won his sixth EVO title. It was his fourth victory in EVO Las Vegas, with victories at EVO Japan in 2019 and 2023. The Tekken powerhouse will be strong favourites with esports betting sites to clinch the title.
Representing the Middle Eastern esports organisation, Twisted Minds, Arslan will be wary of his Pakistani compatriot, Atif ‘Atif’ Ijaz, who came runner-up in Vegas. Atif is representing Falcons, with his most recent tournament victory coming at CEO XV in June.
PUBG at EWC 2025
Dates: August 12-16
Prize Pool: $2,000,000
Format:
Group Stage: Three groups of eight. Six matches per group. Top 16 performing teams of all groups advance. Lowest eight are eliminated.
Finals: 12 matches
The main PUBG tournament starts on Tuesday somewhat different format than we have seen for other EWC Battle Royales. No LCQ, no Match Point system. Simply after 12 matches, the winner will be crowned as the top performer of the Finals.
The game will have a hard task to come close to the PUBG Mobile viewership, which surpassed League of Legends to become the second most-watched esport of the EWC with 1,389,269 peak viewers according to Esports Charts.
The tournament is truly up for grabs with the Korean side Freecs amongst the favourites, with Falcons, Betboom and 17 Gaming also strong contenders.
The two-day Finals will run August 15-16.
Team Fight Tactics at EWC
Dates: August 11-15
Prize pool: $500,000
First place: $150,000
Format:
Group Stage: Four groups of four. Double elimination GSL format.
Playoffs: Eight-team, single-elimination bracket with a Third/Fourth place decider.
Team Fight Tactics is already underway in Riyadh. The Autobattler is the most modestly prized game at the event, equal with the MLBB Women’s Invitational at $500,000.
Riot recently reshaped the Team Fight Tactics scene by introducing the TFT Pro Circuit 2025, which separates the esports into regions, culminating in the Tactician’s Crown events.
