Two additional victims of sexual misconduct have come forward with allegations that they faced sexual harassment and inappropriate behaviour during interactions with a staff member from the League of Legends team Origen. David Primo, a co-founder of Origen, has since been identified as the perpetrator.
These new allegations follow the initial revelation that ex-pro player Neon faced sexual harassment from a then-unidentified member of the organisation in 2017. He is now confirmed to most likely also be David Primo.
Two new allegations reveal a pattern of inappropriate behaviour from the former Origen co-founder
In Neon’s video detailing his allegations, he noted that he hoped others would see his story and feel supported enough to come forward with their own experiences.
Since Esports News UK’s original article on Neon’s experience with sexual harassment, two new victims have contacted the publication to share their own stories.
Both individuals will remain anonymous for their comfort and safety. Their claims have been supported by screenshots of conversations exchanged with David Primo.
‘A’ – 17 years of age, April 2017
At the age of 17, ‘A’ alleges they were engaged in conversation with David Primo via Twitter (now X) in Direct Messages.
In these messages, privately shared with ENUK, Primo is seen attempting to arrange a meeting with the 17-year-old in person. When ‘A’ revealed that they were 17 years of age, Primo is seen responding that he didn’t remember that ‘A’ was younger, followed by a “;)” emoji, typed as shown. He then proceeded to state that ‘A’ being 17 years of age was not an issue.
Additional shared screenshots show messages from an account that was allegedly Primo’s “smurf” account. This was a more private account without his name attached to it.
On this additional account, Primo allegedly repeatedly messaged ‘A’ about sexual topics, despite having confirmed that ‘A’ was a minor.
‘B’ – 16 years of age, 2019
At the age of 16, ‘B’ alleges they were also messaged by David Primo, this time via WhatsApp. A screenshot of the messages was privately shared with ENUK.
In 2019, Primo, named ‘David’ in the WhatsApp contact, asked ‘B’ questions relating to their living situation.
The screenshot of these messages shows Primo telling ‘B’ that they met Neon while he played for the League of Legends team two years prior. Primo then proceeds to message that Neon reminded him of ‘B’.
Messages in this screenshot indicate that Primo did spend time around Neon at the time Neon alleges his experience of sexual harassment took place.
According to ‘B’, Primo engaged in predatory grooming behaviour over an extended period. This includes sexually inappropriate messages while they were still a minor.
David ‘CarvinG’ Primo’s previous position in Origen
David Primo, also known as ‘CarvinG’ in the esports industry, was a co-founder of Origen. He has a limited current online presence regarding the organisation and is not currently involved in the organisation’s business, as far as Esports News UK is aware.
One of the few direct mentions of Primo’s involvement in Origen is an interview by Juan Casanova in April 2017. Here, he is described as one of the organisation’s founders. The interview concerns contractual irregularities that led to consequences in the competitive league.
It is worth noting that this interview took place during the same month as he was allegedly messaging ‘A’.
Origen was acquired by RFRSH Entertainment in November 2018. The roster was then owned by Astralis Group (currently known as Astralis). The main Origen roster was rebranded as Astralis in September 2020. Astralis is no longer active in League of Legends.
Official records of David Primo’s involvement in Origen post-2017 are sparse. However, ‘B’ believes that when they met Primo in 2019, he was primarily responsible for marketing projects.
ENUK has been unable to reach out to David Primo for comment.
