EPIC.LAN have announced that the Kettering Conference Centre has been added to Counter-Strike 2 as a Steam Workshop map.
The hostage map features an in-game version of EPIC.LAN’s (iconic) venue, featuring the outside area as spawn and the inside of the venue, including reception, the gaming area, EPIC.LAN’s stage and, of course, the bar!
The map’s description reads:
“Presented by Intel, this map is set at EPIC.LAN, the UK’s biggest community LAN Party.
“Our lovable LAN-goers are being held hostage by a group of anti-gaming fanatics. They need your help! Rescue our gamer brothers and sisters and become the hero of EPIC!”
The map’s creation is a result of a collaboration with Intel to celebrate the beginning of EPIC.LAN 45. Seemingly created by prominent map creators, ‘lmtlss’ and ‘nagashi.’. lmtless has created several popular practice maps in the Steam Workshop, as well as brand collaborations with Monster, Logitech and, now, Intel. nagashi. has also created a few hit maps, themed around minecraft and chess.
EPIC encouraged its attendees and fans to play the map and give feedback in their EPIC45 Day 1 Newsletter:
EPIC’s statement says: “Intel has launched a custom CS2 replica map of EPIC.LAN at Kettering, and it’s live today! Jump in, frag your mates, and explore a familiar battleground in a whole new way. Play it, share it, and let us know what you think on Steam or socials, we’d love to see your clutch moments!”
While the Counter-Strike world is getting to grips with Overpass being added back into the map pool, UK players might fall behind from spending too much time in the KCC (in-game and in real life).
EPIC.LAN’s doors open at 16:00 Thursday 17th July in what looks to be one of EPIC’s most historic LANs to date due to the European challengers arriving at the (real) KCC.
