LEC Summer Split: everything you need to know

LEC Summer Split: everything you need to know

The 2025 League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) is approaching the end of the season with the LEC Summer Split.

It’s a pivotal time of year as the 10 LEC teams will compete for a spot at the esport’s biggest event, the LoL World Championships.

All will be decided at the LEC Summer Finals LAN event held in Madrid at the end of September.

This Summer, the league will have a new team as Natus Vincere has acquired Rogue’s spot in the LEC.

With the removal of Championship Points, NAVI have a chance to qualify for Worlds despite not competing in the rest of the year.

But with high stakes, it will be a tightly contested season.

LEC Summer Split 2025 format

Similar to Spring, the LEC Summer Split will not feature any best-of-ones.

In fact, the split will feature a new format that will split the 10 LEC teams into two groups of five.

Each team will compete against their four other group members in just one best-of-three series apiece.

These groups will then rapidly decide who advances to the LEC Summer Playoffs.

The two two of each group will automatically qualify for the Playoffs while the bottom team in each group will be eliminated, spelling the end of their season.

From there, the remaining third and fourth-place teams will compete to save their seasons.

Each third-place team will face the other group’s fourth-place team in a single best-of-five.

The winners of each series will complete the six playoff teams, while the losers will see their 2025 season end.

The top four automatically enter the Playoffs Upper Bracket and have the luxury of a double-elimination bracket.

Meanwhile, the winners of the third and fourth crossplay series will start in the lower bracket, where one loss will result in a knockout.

The Playoffs will be a gauntlet of Fearless Draft, best-of-fives to decide the LEC Summer Split 2025 champions.

Unlike last year, there won’t be an additional Season Finals LAN event to decide the LEC champion and Worlds representatives.

Everything will be decided at the Summer Finals in Madrid.

When does the LEC Summer Split start?

The LEC Summer Split will begin on Saturday, August 2nd, with the Group Stages.

There is a long break between Spring and Summer due to MSI and the Esports World Cup schedule.

Following the Groups, there will be a one-week break before the LEC Summer Playoffs begin.

The season will then conclude at the Madrid finals, taking place in the Spanish capital across September 26th, 27th, and 28th.

There, the LEC Summer Split 2025 champion will be crowned and the region’s three Worlds representatives will be decided.
