Pokémon TCG Pocket is getting yet another mini-expansion called Eevee Grove.
As you may have guessed, the expansion will centre around popular Pokémon Eevee and all the “Eeveelutions” it evolves into.
This is very similar to the recent Prismatics Evolutions expansion for the physical Pokémon TCG.
The Eevee Grove expansion will release on the mobile game on Thursday, June 26, at 7 am BST.
This should launch alongside the Pokémon Pocket update that could save ranked mode with win-streak bonuses added to Ultra Ball and Master Ball.
The expansion will feature over 100 cards, with the main attraction being Eevee EX.
There are already five different iterations of Eevee in the game, all with 60 HP and a one energy retreat cost, but different attacks.
Eevee EX will boast the same retreat cost, 90 HP, and a decent 30 damage for one colourless energy attack.
But where this card shines is its “Veevee ‘volve” ability, which allows it to evolve like a regular Eevee card.
Normally, basic EX Pokémon can’t evolve like both iterations of Pikachu EX.
This ability is vital because players can now run four Eevees in their 20-card decks.
This makes it much more likely players will find the basic they need early on to evolve into their Eeveelution.
The Eevee Grove trailer also confirmed that new cards are coming to Pokémon Pocket for all eight Eeveelutions.
Umbreon, Espeon, and Sylveon have all been added to the game, with the latter also getting an EX card.
Sylveon EX has a very powerful ability in Happy Ribbon, which lets it draw two cards when it evolves.
However, with only a 70 damage attack for two energy, it will likely need to be paired with a card with more firepower like Giratina EX.
And outside of the new EX Pokémon, the two new support cards revealed look particularly interesting.
The Eevee Bag item is a versatile option for Eevee decks, increasing damage from Eeveelutions by 10 or healing all Eeveelutions on your side of the board for 20.
And the Penny trainer card adds a huge new layer to the game.
Simply put, the card finds a random trainer card in the opponent’s deck and copies its effect.
This tells you that the particular copy of the card isn’t in the opponent’s hand and gives you a possibly powerful effect like Sabrina or Professor’s Research.
Judging by these support cards, Eevee decks will want to be adaptable.
With how many Eeveelutions generate energy, it might be possible to run multiple Pokémon types.
