The Esports Awards 2025 will mark its 10th anniversary with a special edition called The Decade Awards. Commemorating 10 years of hosting the industry’s primary awards ceremony, iconic players, teams, games, and tournaments will be celebrated.
Nominees include Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok, Oleksandr ‘s1mple’ Oleghovych Kostyljev, and Christine ‘potter’ Chi.
The ceremony will be held in conjunction with the Esports World Cup in Riyadh.
British esports personality Marc ‘Caedrel’ Lamont nominated
One of the largest award categories at the 2025 Esports Awards is Esports Personality of the Decade. Currently, twelve nominees are shortlisted for voting.
Amongst these twelve personalities is British League of Legends player, streamer, coach, and owner of Los Ratones, Marc ‘Caedrel’ Lamont.
Caedrel has been involved in competitive League of Legends since 2015. He has since become one of the most watched streamers on Twitch, founded and coached his own successful League of Legends team, and co-founded the League Awards with fellow nominee Eefje ‘Sjokz’ Depoortere.
In particular, Caedrel is known for his expressive and passionate reactions, often landing him at the centre of League of Legends jokes and memes.
2025 is not the first year Caedrel has featured in The Esports Awards. In 2021, he was named Esports Analyst of the Year. He was also nominated for Esports Content Creator of the Year in 2024.
Who are the biggest names at The Esports Awards 2025?
Some names in the esports industry hold more weight than others, and several of the heaviest hitters in esports history are nominated for awards in 2025.
Alongside Caedrel, League of Legends esports icon and arguably the most famous esports player of all time, Lee ‘Faker’ Sang-hyeok, is nominated in two categories.
He is listed alongside Caedrel for Esports Personality of the Decade. However, he has also been nominated for Esports PC Player of the Decade. With five World Championships and countless regional titles to his name, it is no wonder he has been highlighted in the award lineup.
Despite being the most well-known competitive gamer on the planet, he still faces stiff competition in the Esports PC Player of the Decade category.
Oleksandr ‘s1mple’ Oleghovych Kostyljev and Mathieu ‘ZywOo’ Herbaut are two of the most popular Counter-Strike players in the game’s long history. Both are nominated alongside Faker.
All three esports icons are still actively competing. Currently, s1mple and Zywoo are battling each other in the CS2 Austin Major.
Diversity in Esports – Recognising the women nominated in 2025
Several women are nominated in categories related to content creation and broadcasting. However, very few are nominated for coaching or professional play in the Esports Awards.
Rather than being a reflection on the awards themselves, this reflects the lack of female representation in competitive gaming.
Women such as Eefje ‘Sjokz’ Depoortere and Jorien ‘Sheever’ van der Heijden have excelled as on-air talent. They regularly captivate audiences with their insightful analysis and infectious energy. However, ongoing efforts are necessary to assist with overall female representation in the industry.
The Esports Awards 2025 has included former Evil Geniuses Valorant coach, Christine ‘potter’ Chi, in its Esports Coach of the Decade Category.
This worthy recognition is rooted in her success coaching Evil Geniuses to winning the Valorant 2023 World Championship. Her position as the first woman to lift a VCT trophy on stage has made her one of the most impactful women in the esports industry.
When will the 2025 Awards take place, and how can you vote?
The Esports Awards 2025 will be held alongside the Esports World Cup, in what organisers have named the “Summer of Celebration.”
Although official details regarding the date and time of The Esports Awards have yet to be revealed, the event is scheduled to take place sometime in August this year.
Voting closes on August 11th. However, until then, you can vote for your favourite nominees online.
