FlyQuest are once again North American League of Legends champions after winning the LTA North Conference.
Last year, they were the strongest North American team at LoL World championships, pushing Gen.G to all five games in the Quarterfinals.
Now they will test themselves internationally again at this year’s Mid-Season Invitational (MSI).
FlyQuest are the last of all teams qualified for League of Legends MSI 2025.
And they did so by defeating Cloud9 3-2 in a dramatic, and somewhat controversial, final.
The series was very close and both teams traded games.
Cloud9 ADC Jesper ‘Zven’ Svenningsen was having a fantastic series.
His dominant 15/1/14 performance on Senna put Cloud9 2-1 up with two chances to become champions.
But an outstanding 3-man Taliyah knock-up by Song ‘Quad’ Su-hyeong forced a game five.
And that game five is where the drama real ramped up.
The game was on a knife’s edge with Cloud9 looking to overcome a small gold deficit by rushing Elder Drake.
However, a double teleport by Quad and Gabriël ‘Bwipo’ Rau allowed them to backdoor and sneakily win the series without fighting.
It seems FlyQuest can’t win a trophy in simple fashion after minions alone won them the LCS Summer 2024 final against Team Liquid.
But, what makes FlyQuest’s LTA win even more impressive is the fact that a bug in the final game could have really hurt them.
Despite getting three early kills first, the game strangely gifted the Blessing of Noxus buff to Cloud9.
This small detail altered Cloud9’s stats and wrongfully gave them an advantage, which could have made all the difference in the tight series.
The LTA North clarified the situation after the game in a quick statement, which read:
“Due to an in-game bug, the Blessing of Noxus was awarded to Cloud9 Kia in game five, when it should have been awarded to FlyQuest.
“Since neither team paused, the game played on and counts as a game of record.”
Looking forward to MSI, FlyQuest will be hoping to perform more heroics like the same line-up did at Worlds last year.
They will want to do better internationally than their LTA counterparts, Team Liquid managed earlier in 2025.
Liquid were the first team to be eliminated from First Stand after some bad luck in the head-to-head record.
FlyQuest will immediately start in the main stage while LTA South champions FURIA will face G2 Esports in the Play-Ins.
