Following a two-month loan from MOUZ, Siuhy signed the paperwork to join Team Liquid’s official Counter-Strike roster.
The Polish player Kamin ‘Siuhy’ Szkaradek has taken on the position of in-game leader (IGL) in the team. His official signing has been confirmed just before Team Liquid enters Stage Three of the BLAST Austin Major.
From benched in Europe to North American IGL – Siuhy’s journey to Liquid
As of January 22nd this year, Siuhy announced that MOUZ had benched him due to “clashing visions.” This removed him from active roster participation after over 17 months competing for MOUZ in the European region.
By March, rumours were already circulating about a potential offer from Team Liquid.
The North American team had been wrestling with its composition, failing to become title contenders despite its July 2024 roster overhaul.
Justin ‘jks’ Savage and Roland ‘ultimate’ Tomkowiak were signed, and Russel ‘Twistzz’ Van Dulken took the position of IGL from formerly signed Casper ‘cadiaN’ Moller. However, the overhaul did not yield the expected improvements, even after adding Guy ‘NertZ’ Iluz in January.
With Siuhy and his IGL capabilities sitting on the bench, Team Liquid saw an opportunity to trial new leadership for the team. His loan period began in April, just before PGL Bucharest.
To make space for Siuhy, Jks was removed from Team Liquid’s starting roster.
Although PGL Bucharest fell flat for Liquid, their quarter-final run at IEM Melbourne and top-12 finish at IEM Dallas showed promise.
Evidently, these results were satisfactory enough that Siuhy signed with Team Liquid on an official basis before his trial period expired post-Austin Major.
Siuhy signed in time for Austin – the journey for Team Liquid ahead
Following Siuhy’s signing, Team Liquid embarks on its Austin Major journey. The roster can now begin the tournament as an official team, with their IGL confirmed as here to stay.
As a Stage Three invite, Team Liquid have had the privilege of observation rather than participation in Stages One and Two. Now, they enter the fight for Playoffs qualification alongside formidable competitors. After the shock departures of Falcons and Heroic in Stage Two of the competition, no team is safe from elimination.
Joining Team Liquid in the Stage Three invite category are Team Vitality, MOUZ, Team Spirit, G2 Esports, The MongolZ, Aurora Gaming, and NAVI.
Team Liquid’s first game will be against the Chinese underdog roster, Lynn Vision. Over Stage One and Two, Lynn Vision have gained support from fans around the world. Player EmiliaQAQ’s charismatic and earnest approach to the Major has drawn particularly strong attention.
Although a team far below them in Valve’s official rankings, Team Liquid cannot underestimate the determination of Lynn Vision.
If Team Liquid’s roster can remain in the top eight Stage 3 teams, they will book themselves a spot with their new IGL for the Playoffs.
