Esports World Cup announces $50k Street Fighter 6 Last Chance Qualifier

The Esports World Cup has announced a Last Chance Qualifier for its Street Fighter 6 2025 tournament in August.

The event will be open to all players, taking place at Boulevard City in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, between August 14th and 16th.

Street Fighter 6’s main event will then take place between August 21st and 23rd.

The Esports World Cup Foundation announced that the late qualifier will have space for 512 players to compete

Sign ups are opening soon on June 13th.

After recent rule changes, there’s a chance qualifiers could be played on the Nintendo Switch 2 which is officially competitively viable for Street Fighter 6.

Last year’s Last Chance Qualifier only offered four spots into the EWC main event.

That has been dramatically increased with 10 places at the Esports World Cup up for grabs for the 512 competitors.

Those 10 players will then join the 38 other qualified competitors, 30 of which have already been confirmed.

Amongst the already qualified are Capcom Cup 11 winner Kakeru and EVO Japan 2025 champion Saul Leonardo “MenaRD” Mena.

This year’s Last Chance Qualifier will also feature a dedicated prize pool of $50k (£37k).

However, prize money distributions have not yet been confirmed.

This year’s lucrative Street Fighter 6 Esports World Cup tournament will feature a $1m (£736k) prize pool, the same amount as the prestigious Capcom Cup.

Like the Last Chance Qualifier, prize distributions have not yet been confirmed.

Last year’s tournament was won by legendary King of Fighters player Xiao Hai who is automatically qualified for this year’s tournament.

The reigning champion took home $300k (£331k) in prize money as well as a $50k (37k) MVP bonus.

However, an additional prize has been confirmed for the 2025 edition of the upcoming fighting game tournament.

This year’s Street Fighter 6 Esports World Cup winner will also earn a spot at Capcom Cup 12, the culmination of the 2025 Capcom Pro Tour with its own $1m prize pool.

Before that, the Esports World Cup Street Fighter 6 tournament will take place during the final week of the event alongside the Counter-Strike 2 and Crossfire events.
