League of Legends’ ARAM is getting its biggest update yet

New LoL ARAM map Koeshin’s Crossing

Riot Games has announced a series of massive changes for League of Legends’ All Random All Mid (ARAM) mode.

The latest LoL Dev update revealed that from patch 25.13 to 25.16, ARAM will rotate randomly between three different maps.

The classic Howling Abyss Map will be joined by the returning, Bilgewater-themed Butcher’s Bridge and a new Spirit Blossom map called Koeshin’s Crossing.

Koeshin’s Crossing will replace Hex Gates with Spirit Blossom portals, which can teleport players sideways in the map’s centre.

That middle meeting point will also feature unique terrain that isn’t symmetrical, making team fights feel different.

Butcher’s Bridge hasn’t appeared in the game since 2019 and will work slightly differently than before.

It will feature cannons to launch players from base and knock-up opponents, as well as an alcove with a less-powerful Power Flower from Arena mode to fight over.

Across all three maps, the legacy item Spectral Cutlass will return. This item gives AD and lethality as well as the ability to blink back to a location previously marked.

Riot is hoping these changes will freshen up the ARAM mode without changing too much about what LoL players already like about it.

Some may be disappointed to see that the Arcane-themed Bridge of Progress map hasn’t been included in this new rotation.

But Riot’s Head of League Studio, Andrei ‘Meddler’ van Roon, said on Reddit it may return in the future:

“If this rotating map pool approach for ARAM works well we’d like to get Bridge of Progress in there sometime, definitely.

“We had a choice between BoP or Butcher’s Bridge for this release (wanted to do 3 maps initially). We chose Butcher’s Bridge since it’s been such a long time since it was available.”

Outside of the map rotation, another major change coming to ARAM is the removal of rerolls.

Instead, in the pre-game lobby of an ARAM match, players will be presented with two or three ‘cards’ of champions to choose from.

The unpicked champions will go to the bench, ensuring players have more options to pick from while maintaining some randomness.
