Jojopyun makes history as Movistar KOI win LEC Spring 2025

Movistar Koi win LEC Spring Playoffs final 2025

Movistar KOI defeated G2 Esports in the 2025 LEC Spring Playoffs final in a slightly surprising result.

The impressive 3-1 victory earned a first major League of Legends title for MKOI who are partially owned by popular streamer Ibai and former Barcelona defender Gerard Pique.

The day before, they defeated the Winter champions and their rivals, Karmine Corp, 3-2 in a thrilling Lower Bracket Final.

MKOI will now travel to Canada as EMEA’s number one seeds for the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI).

The international event hosted in Vancouver will be a particularly special moment for the team’s Canadian midlaner, Joseph Joon ‘Jojopyun’ Pyun.

It was a historic accomplishment for Jojopyun who is now the first North American pro to win a title in Europe.

Only six players have won titles in both Europe and North America, including legendary Perkz who has retired from LoL to become a dad.

It was also a huge moment for MKOI jungler Javier ‘Elyoya’ Prades Batalla, as this is his fourth LEC title – he earned two in his rookie year.

Elyoya is now in the conversation for the region’s best ever junglers, considering this impressive trophy tally while never playing for Fnatic or G2.

The Spanish jungler was named MVP for the final but in his post-game interview, Elyoya’s focus was on shouting out his coach:

“This one I want to dedicate to Melzet, he has been with me since the beginning of my career, and just now he had a child.

“All the work he has always put in, all the feelings he has shared with me, this was for him. He earned it.”

G2 Esports’ LEC struggles continue

Despite also qualifying for MSI, G2 will be desperately disappointed by the results of Spring.

The team were heavy favourites going into the LEC final, considering the organisation has 16 EMEA titles.

This is the second consecutive final that G2 have lost after a humbling 3-0 defeat versus KCorp in Winter.

It means this new line-up with Rudy “SkewMond” Semaan and Labros “Labrov” Papoutsakis are still yet to win a trophy.

Yet, MSI qualification means these two players will get crucial international experience.

Labrov played at Worlds 2023 with Team BDS, while this is Skewmond’s first international event in his rookie year.
