Guild Esports and Sky’s “Lobby Live” events continue to attract fresh engagement and a safe, competitive environment for women in esports.
Guild and Sky’s “The Lobby” Initiative
Opening their doors to fans and industry professionals alike, Guild Esports has established a regular schedule of events that unite women in the traditionally male-dominated gaming space.
Currently, their events timetable focuses on regular opportunities and engagement, building on the success of the Women’s Esports Final in 2024.
“The Lobby” aims to create gaming events and tournaments for women. These include their community-oriented Lobby Live sessions, online tournament qualifiers, and in-person sim racing finals.
So far in 2025, they have already run a Fortnite tournament. The winning squad took home £2,000 each in prize money. Following the tournament’s success, the Lobby initiative received praise from industry icons, including host Frankie Ward.
Additionally, their EAFC tournament concluded earlier in May.
Across their two-year partnership, Guild Esports and Sky have worked to highlight the challenges faced by women in gaming and esports. In response to community feedback after the Women’s Esports Finals, they have focused on increasing opportunities for engagement.
Peter Hughes, Senior Content Producer at Guild Esports, explained to Esports News UK the growth the initiative has undertaken.
“We heard that people wanted more. So, this year we have tried to do more regular tournaments, include more players, do more events, and overall, give more options to women in the gaming space.”
Lobby Live – May 2025
Guild Esports and Sky’s most recent Lobby Live event took place on May 29th at the Sky Guild Gaming Centre in Shoreditch. Lobby Live focuses explicitly on fostering a casual, safe, and inclusive space for networking and socialising.
This month, content creators “Yammy” and “Harrie” hosted an open Q&A session.
Harrie is a variety games streamer and content creator. Yammy has more recently expanded into show hosting, alongside her success in content creation. Notably, she hosts “Let’s Game Sky Kids” and the CBBC’s “Game on Grandparents.”
Attendees had the opportunity to engage in open conversations with the creators, gaining valuable advice and insight into their work.
Guided by the attendees’ input, the two creators discussed content platforms, content types, partnerships, brand work, and balancing their well-being in content creation roles.
Upcoming Tournaments – Sim Racing Finals and Marvel Rivals
While The Lobby’s Fortnite and EAFC tournaments have concluded, Guild Esports and Sky have their upcoming Sim Racing and Marvel Rivals competitions.
On June 14th, competitors will fight for the fastest time on professional sim racing rigs. They will compete across three iconic UK circuits on Assetto Corsa at the Sky Guild Centre.
The last opportunity to qualify for the Sim Racing Final is Saturday, May 31st, which will be held online.
Their upcoming Marvel Rivals tournament is open for signups. Qualifiers begin on June 26th. A Discord channel is available for you to join, where you can find more information and connect with teams.
Through The Lobby, Guild Esports and Sky continue to make space for women in esports and gaming to support one another, addressing their needs and wants within the industry.
