Electronic Arts has confirmed that the Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) Midseason Playoffs will take place at the Esports World Cup 2025.
The tournament in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, marks the first time that the ALGS circuit will host an event in the Middle East.
It coincides with the news that the FC Pro World Championship will also take place at the Esports World Cup.
Forty teams from across the world will compete for a share of the $2m (£1.5m) prize pool on offer.
The winning team will receive $600,000 (£447,400). They will also receive 1,000 championship points that will decide who qualifies for the ALGS 2025 Championship.
The tournament will begin with the Pool Play Stage, where the top 40 teams are split into two groups of 20.
They will compete in a series of ten matches and from there, the top seven from each group will go to the Match Point Finals. The teams ranked 8th to 17th from each group will fight for the final six places in the finals via the last-chance semifinals.
Five teams are already confirmed, including Alliance, who won the tournament in 2024 by seeing off Team Falcons.
ALGS Midseason Playoff schedule
- Pool Play Stage (July 10th to 11th: 40 teams are divided into two groups of 20, each playing 10 matches. The top seven teams from each group advance directly to the Match Point Finals.
- Last-Chance Semifinals (July 12th): Teams ranked 8th to 17th in each group compete in the Last-Chance Semifinals with the top six securing spots in the Finals.
- Match Point Finals (July 13): The 20 qualifying teams (14 from Pool Play and 6 from Last-Chance Semifinals) battle to determine the ALGS Midseason Playoff champion.
Esports World Cup 2025
The Esports World Cup 2025 will feature 25 tournaments across 24 games.
There will be a record-breaking $70m (£52m) prize pool with 2,000 players and 100 clubs competing.
The Esports World Cup today confirmed the news that the ALGS Midseason Playoffs and the FC Pro World Championship will be part of the event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

“We’re excited to bring ALGS to Riyadh after the incredible response last year. This is the future of esports as a global sport. – and we’re just getting started.”
Apex Legends was one of the first titles to be confirmed for the Esports World Cup 2025.
Last year’s Esports World Cup saw 40 teams compete in the Apex Legends Tournament.
