NLC 2025 news and content powered by AGON by AOC
It’s today been confirmed that Los Ratones, the star-studded League of Legends team set up by British esports personality Caedrel, will be competing in the NLC in 2025.
This is huge news for the UK and Nordics’ EMEA Regional League (ERL) to start the year, given the amount of views the team will bring to the league.
The NLC has also today announced a one-year name sponsorship deal with Swedish gaming chair brand Arozzi. This means that moving forward, the league will be the Arozzi Northern League of Legends Championship. There’s more on this deal further in this article.
Organisers Leagues Media also told Esports News UK that 2025 is set to be the NLC’s biggest ever year, with not only Los Ratones bringing some huge names to the table, but other teams too.
For example, UK team Ruddy Esports have been linked with some big player names, which are still to be 100% confirmed.
LR will play their first match in the NLC on January 15th 2024, which is when the new season gets underway.
Los Ratones are the tenth NLC team competing in 2025, joining DMG Esports, Lundqvist Lightside, Ruddy Esports, Venomcrest Esports, Nord Esports, Verdant, Rich Gang Esports, Kaos e-sport and the newly-returning Bulldog Esports in the NLC Winter 2025 season.
The news comes a month and a half after British League of Legends content king Marc ‘Caedrel‘ Lamont revealed the 2025 player roster for the Los Ratones esports team: Thebausffs, Velja, Nemesis, Crownie and Rekkles.
The team also competed against the likes of T1 at Red Bull League of Its Own 2024 last month.
The news also comes after changes to the NLC for 2025 and 2026 were announced, including a new format, more teams, fearless draft, live event roadshows, closer links with national leagues and the closure of Division 2.
The NLC tournament organiser is also divided into subsidiaries, with Leagues Media (which connects brands with gamers) and Leagues Technology (which is part of the company that develops the Leagues.gg website).
NLC on Los Ratones joining the league for 2025: ‘We hope that the participation of Los Ratones can help catapult the region toward the status its players deserve’
Leagues Media, the tournament operator that runs the NLC, answered some of Esports News UK’s questions below.
How does it feel to have Los Ratones playing in the NLC?
We’re entering an exciting time for the NLC, and Los Ratones, naturally, plays a big part in that excitement. Caedrel and his team have managed to do a lot with the Los Ratones brand in a very short time, so we’re eager to see where they will take it.
Could this be the biggest year in NLC/UK/Nordic ERL history?
What kind of impact do you think Los Ratones will have?
The NLC region has a large amount of untapped potential. It’s home to some of the best players and talent from the EMEA region but has, for various reasons, never taken off quite like other big ERLs like LFL, SL, and PRM. We hope that the participation of Los Ratones can help catapult the region toward the status its players deserve.
Due to the NLC’s status as the only ERL with English as its official broadcast language, the NLC is in a unique position to become a gathering place for the best of the EMEA Tier 2 Esports, while producing the talent of the future. We hope that 2025 will be the first indication of how the region will evolve.
NLC announces name partnership with Arozzi Chairs for 2025
As mentioned, the NLC has also today announced a one-year name sponsorship deal with Swedish gaming chair brand Arozzi.
This means that moving forward, the league will be the Arozzi Northern League of Legends Championship.
Arozzi said: “We’re thrilled to announce that we’re the 2025 Name Sponsor for the NLC, the home of Nordic League of Legends esports! This will be an amazing journey!”
The NLC added: “We’re proud to announce that Arozzi will sponsor the 2025 NLC season, and are eager to get the collaboration going – stay tuned!”
