Netflix is to produce an animated series set in the universe of mobile games Clash of Clans and Clash Royale.
The series, currently in pre-production, will bring the game characters and world to life through the animated series.
An announcement trailer was released on game developer Supercell’s official YouTube account, which revealed the show would be based on both titles.
In a post on X, Supercell wrote: “We’re partnering with Netflix to bring the war-waging world of CLASH to life like never before. A new animated series has been greenlit and is currently in pre-production. That’s all for now. More details are coming later, but we just couldn’t keep it a secret any longer.”
Netflix also confirmed the news in a post on their website, writing: “The new series will build upon the mayhem of the games.
“It follows a determined, but in over his head, Barbarian who must rally a band of misfits to defend their village and navigate the comically absurd politics of war.”
Fletcher Moules, who has previously worked on Clash of Clans animated videos for Supercell will serve as showrunner. Ron Weiner, who has worked on TV shows including Futurama, 30 Rock and Arrested Development, will be the head writer.
Success of Clash of Clans and Clash Royale
Clash of Clans, which launched in 2012, and Clash Royale, released four years later, have had huge success worldwide.
The titles have totaled four billion downloads and 180 billion gameplay hours by fans across the world.
Clash of Clans has also created its own unique esports scene. The Clash of Clans World Championship, hosted by Supercell, is set to take place later this year.
The tournament will boast a prize pool of $700,000 (£523,000).
Clash Royale meanwhile recently unveiled a community-focused format for the 2025 CRL 2025 season.
The CRL finals will take place over September 20th-21st, following four golden-ticket qualifiers and a last-chance qualifier.
