UK-based EXO Clan announced the organisation’s closure on social media on Monday.
Initially, fans came out in support, thanking the team for everything they’ve done in esports. The team has recently competed in Apex Legends and Valorant esports tournaments just a few months ago.
However, it was later revealed by the former owner and founder of EXO Clan, Kris ‘Exodus’ Partell, that they were unaware of any plans to shut down EXO Clan.
This was also the case for many others within the organisation who were caught by surprise after the announcement.
All is not as it seems with the current CEO in the wind, and many members of staff left with nothing and without warning.
Who are EXO Clan?
Originally competing in the Oceania region before later expanding into the Asia Pacific and European regions.
The organisation held rosters in Apex Legends and Valorant esports as of this year, with former rosters in Counter-Strike, Pokémon Unite, PUBG, and Rocket League esports across its existence.
In October 2023, the organisation merged with the British Apex Legends organisation UTFT, with the CEO, Jack ‘iJackmc’ McPoland, taking over the operations of EXO Clan.
The following year, EXO Clan merged with Irish-based Element 6. Subsequently, absorbing parts of its roster and staff.
As part of this merger, the organisation was listed as an official private company in the UK, with the expectation of five directors with a shared ownership of the company, as claimed by Exodus on social media.
The early warning signs
According to former owner Exodus, the board of directors was meant to involve the former upper management of UTFT, and Element 6, as well as himself from EXO Clan’s side.
Each director was promised shared ownership of EXO Clan in order to have input on the future direction of EXO Clan moving forward.
However, this was not the case since Jack ‘iJackmc’ McPoland and Grant ‘GranticusCya’ Aldridge are the only listed members of EXO Clan according to the UK government website.
GranticusCya also came from UTFT and later became co-owner of EXO Clan after the merger. Each owns an equal 50/50 share of the company ownership.
Exodus attempted to contact iJackmc to receive the official documents but never got a reply.
It should be noted that the documents in question are publicly available on the UK Government website.
The end of EXO Clan and the aftermath
The closure of EXO Clan was initially leaked on Twitch, where a user claimed that EXO Clan were closing and their roster of Elwin ‘KSWINNIIE’ Echeveria and Nathan ‘ChaoticMuch’ were looking for a new organisation.
The rumours made their way to Twitter, where Exodus was seemingly caught by surprise
Earlier this week, the announcement was finally made on the organisation’s Apex Legends social media account. Apologising and thanking fans for their support over the years.
This came after players and staff were notified on the organisation’s Discord server. However, according to Exodus, this message was made after his access to the chat was removed, alongside several others.
“I didn’t even know it was happening till I saw the leak…
Somehow my role in the Discord was removed and therefore I didn’t get the ping with the information. Nor was I approached at any point with the problems at hand.”
Posted on Exodus’ Twitter account
The announcement also left other members of EXO Clan shocked, as everything for them and EXO Clan had ended in just a few moments.
Fans also came out in support and appreciation of the organisation.
EXO Clan’s esports manager and founder of Element 6, Mete ‘Sineska’ Karaoglan, also commented on social media with disappointment about the situation.
The current CEO, iJackmc, has since deleted his social media accounts and taken down both EXO Clan and UTFT websites.
His online presence has seemingly been erased as iJackmc has not responded to the announcement, accusations, or personal messages.
Interestingly, EXO Clan’s listing on the UK government website states that the company is still active.
The latest update was made last week on Wednesday, May 7th 2025, via the confirmation statement.
Founder of EXO Clan – Kris ‘Exodus’ Partell comments
The former owner and founder of EXO Clan was quick to comment on social media regarding the announcement.
In his initial response after the announcement, he shared his disappointment and drive to keep the organisation alive.
Current CEO iJackmc, is yet to respond to the announcement, however, it seems this is also the case for his own colleagues in EXO Clan.
Esports News UK reached out to Exodus for comment on the current situation.
Talking to us, he mentioned that it was solely iJackmc’s decision to close EXO Clan. He was also meant to make a statement regarding the announcement, but never did.
According to Exodus, from conversations with those in contact with iJackmc, he reasoned the news has ‘been in front of enough people’s eyes, so there was no need for a statement’.
This was also apparently the last time he spoke to Exodus before ghosting the former owner.
On social media, Exodus claimed that his access to the chat where the announcement took place was taken away, discovering the news later on social media.
Following up on the current co-owner GranticusCya, Exodus said they also had not heard from iJackmc. He also claims not to know the reason behind the closure and sudden disappearance.
He has since reached out to Exodus to offer support going forward.
What will happen to EXO Clan now?
For now, EXO Clan has ceased operations, with players and staff now forced to move on.
Their Apex Legends roster has since announced that they are looking for a new organisation to support them in their efforts to qualify for the Apex Legends Global Series 2025: Pro League – EMEA.
Meanwhile, their Valorant roster is seeking new teams individually in hopes of continuing to compete.
However, parts of the organisation’s former staff are looking to revive what’s left of EXO Clan, including Exodus, and former Element 6 owners, Sineska and Marvin ‘MRVN’ L.
The former owner commented:
Esports News UK has also reached out to Jack ‘iJackmc’ McPoland and Grant ‘GranticusCya’ Aldridge for further comment on the announcement and accusations, however, both are yet to respond.“We were a dynasty.
It’s cringe but this summarises our perspective quite well. Chaos is the purest form of creation. We’re trying to make the most out of this situation that we can.
It’s not the end.
We’ve lost our mark on the esports scene, but we’re not done. We had a vision and we had goals.
The most important thing to me is our community. We just want our community back.”
