The next instalment of EA Sports FC is supposedly launching sooner than expected but before then, there are still updates coming to EA FC 25 as Spotify now integrated into the game’s main menu.
Through this new partnership, those who have Spotify premium memberships will be able to directly log into their accounts and then will have the option to replace all in-game sound, including commentary, with their own music, podcasts, or audiobooks.
For now, this partnership is exclusive to players in Saudi Arabia and Australia as EA test the new feature. However, there’s a strong chance that this will eventually become a global feature come the release of EA FC 26 later in the year.
Spotify have also stressed that certain music won’t be available in the game through this feature but didn’t expand on exactly what type of content will be blocked.
Each time a new Spotify song comes on, a pop up will appear at the top of the screen and players can skip and select songs at any point during a game via the pause menu. Additionally, Spotify will be curating its own playlists specifically for the game, giving EA FC the opportunity to have a soundtrack that evolves as the football season progresses.
The EA FC (formerly FIFA) game series has always been well known for having incredible soundtracks. Songs such as Jerk It Out by The Caesars, Untouched by the Veronicas, and Kids by MGMT all unleash a wave of nostalgia for those who grew up playing the games.
Many have considered more recent games’ soundtracks to be letdowns but now those with Spotify premium memberships can will be able to take matters into their own hands by replacing the in-game music with their own curated song library or playlists.
For those outside of Austrlia and Saudi Arabia PlayStation, Xbox and PC all have Spotify apps already. While it will take some extra steps like muting all sound from EA FC in the menu, there’s nothing stopping you from customising the background audio to your gaming sessions.
