Esports World Cup Foundation launches ‘Music of EWC’ initiative with recording at legendary Abbey Road Studios

The Esports World Cup Foundation (EWCF) has unveiled ‘Music of EWC,’ a project to create a signature sound for the 2025 Esports World Cup.

It comes as the world’s largest esports and gaming festival is set to return to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, between July 7 and August 24.

The initiative launched on April 27 with a recording session at London’s legendary Abbey Road Studios. It featured original compositions by renowned music collectives 2WEI and Hollywood Scoring.

The recording at Abbey Road’s Studio One—famous for hosting artists like Pink Floyd and Adele, as well as soundtracks for Star Wars, Halo, and League of Legends—produced a four-track music suite.

2WEI are known for their work on League of Legends anthems, as well as Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Hollywood Scoring’s credits include Star Wars, Riot Games’ Arcane, and Disney Parks.

Together, they each contributed two tracks to form the backbone of the EWC 2025 soundtrack.

Esports World Cup music competition

The Esports World Cup Foundation has teamed up with Audiotool, a cloud-based music creation platform, to launch an open competition.

Artists from around the world are being invited to submit original tracks, with two winners chosen by industry judges to join the official EWC 2025 music suite.

The winning tracks will premiere during the Esports World Cup. Their creators will receive 25 limited-edition vinyls of their work plus a one-year LANDR Studio subscription. This is an opportunity that could kickstart careers in gaming and entertainment.

Submissions must be original, licensed under Creative Commons, and are accepted until June 8, 2025, at ewc.audiotool.com.

“The Esports World Cup is about community,” said Mike McCabe, chief operating officer of the Esports World Cup. “It is a global platform that connects people and elevates talent in all forms.”

“Music of EWC is a natural extension of that purpose. It is built on the same passion, creativity, and collaboration that define gaming and competition. Music and esports both bring people together, they let us feel the same rhythm, the same energy, wherever we are.

“With Music of EWC, we’re creating our own voice, sharing a universal language that tells the story of our sport and defines the role of esports in global culture.”

The Esports World Cup 2025 will once again unite gamers and esports fans in Riyadh. This year’s tournament will see a record breaking $70m (£52m) prize pool.
