Format and schedule
The ALGS Open is an offline tournament scheduled from May 1 to May 4, 2025, which will take place at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
Due to the expanded number of teams, EA has introduced a double-elimination bracket format followed by a Match Point final to determine the winner. All teams will receive a starting position within the bracket determined by their performance in the first split of the Pro League or Challenger Circuit.
In the Winners Bracket, the top 10 teams from each round advance, while the bottom 10 drop to the Elimination Bracket. In the Elimination Bracket, the top 10 teams per round move forward, and the bottom 10 are eliminated.
After this, the 20 remaining teams will compete in the Match Point Finals on May 4th, where teams must earn 50 points to activate a chance of winning the tournament.
The updated rules for 2025 introduce Legend Bans – where the most-picked Legend is banned after each match.
The 160 teams include all 120 ALGS Pro League teams (30 per region: Americas, EMEA, APAC North, and APAC South). Plus, there are 40 teams from Preseason Qualifiers (16 from Americas, 8 each from EMEA, APAC North, and APAC South).
Serving as the first LAN of the ALGS 2025 season, following the Preseason Qualifiers and Split 1 Pro League, it is a critical step toward qualifying for the Midseason Playoffs and the ALGS Championship. The tournament will be played on four maps – World’s Edge, Storm Point, E-District, and Broken Moon.
