FIA sim racing women

The FIA, the global governing body of motorsports has introduced the FIA Girls on Track Esports Cup offering a sim racing competition for women.

This new global sim racing esports competition is exclusively for girls and women aged 16 or over regardless of their location or prior esports experience.

It is being organised in collaboration with Advanced SimRacing, a racing simulation rig manufacturer and popular sim racing platform, iRacing.

Interested participants must register for the event on the FIA’s website. An active iRacing account is also required for those wishing to compete.

FIA Girls On Track Esports Cup: How the sim racing competition will work

The FIA sim racing competition for women has already begun with online qualifications, where participants compete in the iRacing Time Attack mode to set their fastest lap.

Qualifying will run until May 6, 2025 and the top 10 performers will advance to the multi-day final during the 2025 FIA Extraordinary General Assemblies Week in Macau in June.

The winner will be crowned the first-ever FIA Girls on Track Esports Cup champion.

On top of the competition, the 10 finalists will also gain valuable exposure to the motorsport industry.

They will receive media training workshops and network opportunities during the event in Macau which will open them to explore potential careers in motorsport.

“We know that Esports is the future – but for the discipline to truly grow and develop, we need to encourage more girls and women to get involved,” highlighted Niroshan Pereira, FIA Esports Commission President.

“We hope that this competition will act as a catalyst, encouraging aspiring racers to try out our discipline and consider pursuing a career in motorsport.”

This marks the first time the FIA Girls on Track initiative has ventured into esports. Previously, the program gained recognition through efforts like the FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars, which supported young female drivers from 2020 to 2023.

The Esports Cup aligns with the FIA’s broader commitment to gender equality and its recent push into competitive gaming, highlighted by the approval of the FIA Esports Code last year to regulate sim racing events.
