PGL secures future of DOTA 2 esports for next 4 years in ambitious new roadmap

PGL commit to supporting DOTA 2 esports into 2028

Esports tournament organisers PGL have committed to supporting the DOTA 2 competitive scene all the way into 2028 by announcing a roadmap with tournament dates locked in for the next four years.

PGL have announced that between now in 2025 through to the end of 2028, they will be hosting 13 separate DOTA 2 events. Each event will feature a consistent prize pool of $1 million (£752k), meaning PGL will contribute $13m (£9.7m) prize money in total over the next few years.

On top of this, the company will also continue acting as the production company for Valve’s DOTA 2 International tournaments, which have historically featured esports’ biggest prize pools with TI10’s $40m (£30m) in 2021 still the biggest of any individual gaming event ever.

As part of this new roadmap, PGL is expanding the number of its yearly DOTA 2 events. The announcement states the organisers are actively working to add at least one additional event per year with the current calendar displaying three tournaments in 2026 and then four events in both 2027 and 2028.

The new calendar has also seen schedule change for the company’s Wallachia tournament series with Season 4 currently underway. PGL have announced that the Season 5 event has been brought forward from November to June, 2025 to make room for other events later in the year, including Wallachia Season 6 which will take now place between November 4 to November 16, 2025.

The PGL statement stresses that announcing these events early is part of the company’s long-term vision for the esports scene: “By locking in event dates years in advance and maintaining a consistent $1,000,000 prize pool for each tournament, PGL offers stability for teams, clarity for fans, and a reliable, competitive structure that elevates the entire ecosystem.”

At the time of writing, despite locking in the dates, PGL have not confirmed the locations or venues for any of the 2026, 2027, or 2028 events. The full PGL DOTA 2 schedule can be found below.
