JD Gaming announced on X that head coach Kim ‘cvMax’ Dae-ho is leaving his position due to undisclosed health concerns.
The news confirmed on social media was a decision mutually agreed upon, to allow him to focus on recovery.
“JD Gaming and cvMax, Head Coach of our League of Legends division, have mutually agreed to part ways effective immediately,” the team stated.
“This decision follows Coach cvMax’s need to return to home country for health recovery and takes into account the team’s upcoming competitive schedule.
“Since joining JDG in December 2024, Coach cvMax has shown exceptional professionalism and dedication,” the team stated.
“His rigorous training, detailed management, and strategic leadership have greatly enhanced our tactical systems and player growth, fostering continuous team progress.”
Since joining JD Gaming in 2024, cvMax has built a strong reputation and fanbase in the League of Legends scene.
While fans hope for his return, they also respected the decision to prioritise his health and team performance.
The team concluded: “We sincerely thank Coach cvMax for his invaluable contributions and guidance. We also appreciate our fans’ unwavering support for JDG’s League of Legends division. We wish Coach cvMax a swift recovery and success in his future endeavors.”
Has JD Gaming announced a replacement for cvMAX?
JDGaming has not yet indicated any plans to announce a replacement or to bring cvMAX back as head coach.
The team was led by assistant coaches He “BoBo” Wen-Bo and Chen “Xiasu” Long during action on Monday.
CvMax has also yet to comment on his plans since the news was announced on social media.
He was previously head coach of both DRX and Kwangdong Freecs.
JD Gaming is currently sixth place in the League of Legends Pro League Split 2 standings, with four wins and two losses. The team will have to step it up to make it to the finals.
