xQc to host $250,000 Marvel Rivals streamer tournament

xQc is hosting a Marvel Rivals tournament

Canadian Twitch and Kick streamer Félix “xQc” Lengyel has announced he will be hosting his own Marvel Rivals tournament on his livestream.

The former Overwatch pro revealed the tournament will take place May 9, 2025 with a ginormous $250,000 (£188k) prize pool, with most of the money coming from xQc himself.

The streamer stressed he has been working on the event for months and has full creative control. Not only is he hosting and funding the event, he also plans on pulling double duty by commentating and playing in the tournament:

“I might do a kind of a dual production thing where, like, I’m trying to win as well… and if I’m out or not, I can cast the other games,” he told his stream.

xQc also confirmed that this is primarily an event for streamers rather than pro teams, though he remained tight-lipped about who will be participating: ” It’s going to be a bunch of other streamers and other people, and I’m running it. I hope I can make it a good, balanced, and cool event.”

This will be one of the biggest competitive events Marvel Rivals has seen after the hero shooter released almost five months ago back in early December. Despite a lack of events, a lot of big-name esports organisations have already capitalised on the game’s popularity and created competitive teams including British organisation Fnatic.

Fnatic’s squad hasn’t competed since March when they finished third in the Marvel Rivals Invitational: EMEA following a close 3-2 series against OG who then lost to Virtus.Pro in the finals. While Fnatic’s players likely won’t be able to play in xQc’s event, there may not be too long a wait for them to compete again as Season 2 (Hellfire Gala) of the Marvel Rivals Championships kick off in early June with open qualifiers. The Fnatic squad hadn’t been created when Season 1 took place so this will be a good opportunity for the squad to enact some revenge for the Invitational and cement their place as one of the strongest teams in the early days of the esport.
