Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) has revealed significant format changes for Season 9 of its regional league, MPL Singapore.
The revamped format introduces initiatives to foster greater community engagement and transform the esports scene in Singapore and the surrounding region.
According to a press release, Season 9 will be the “most community-driven edition” yet – giving fans and aspiring players more ways to take part.
MPL Singapore Season 9 Format Changes
Starting with Season 9, MPL Singapore will adopt a roving format, hosting regular season matches across multiple locations.
The regular season will blend professional and community rosters across four stages.
- Seeded Stage: Five invited MPL Singapore teams compete.
- Challenger Qualifiers: Up to 64 amateur teams vie for a spot in the next stage.
- Challenger Stage: Top four community teams face off against invited teams from the seeded stage.
- Last Chance Qualifiers: The fifth-placed invited team and Challenger teams compete for playoff spots.
The playoffs will feature six teams battling for a SGD $40,000 (£23,075) prize pool. They will also have the chance to qualify for the MLBB Mid-Season Cup which will take place at the 2025 Esports World Cup in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The Esports World Cup will start on July 3 and end August 25.

Who Are The MPL Singapore Season 9 Partners?
Alongside the format shake-up, MPL Singapore announced partnerships with haircare brand Head & Shoulders and CapitaLand as esports partners.
Head & Shoulders will feature limited-edition packaging with MLBB characters Zilong and Layla, while CapitaLand will support event operations as the league tours Singapore.
