The weekend of March 22nd 2025 saw over 200 competitors from all over the UK and Ireland travel to Birmingham for Team Regen’s final event for Super Smash Brothers Ultimate – Gala.
The event also saw a Rivals of Aether 2 tournament and the third Annual Smash UK Awards.
The main bracket for Gala saw 128 entrants for the Smash Ultimate Singles event battling for a prize pool of £1,280. The bracket saw multiple upsets, with only 3 of the Top 8 seeds making it into the top 8 of the bracket. Luugi won the tournament, beating Ascro in both Winners Finals and Grand Finals. Top 8 also saw Peli (seed 13) placing 3rd in his first UK Ultimate Tournament since August 2024, and Snake player ToeJam (seed 21) in 4th after causing multiple upsets.
The other brackets at Gala included a Rivals of Aether 2 Singles bracket and Smash Ultimate Doubles bracket. The 48 person Rivals of Aether 2 bracket had a prize pool of £240 and was won by Caitlyn, with HTSpider placing in second and 10QuidShoes in third. The Doubles bracket was won by the duo of Shaneak and Kirb0, who defeated the team of Luugi and Mondi.

There was also a Smash UK awards show which highlighted the Best Players, Best Commentators and Best Bracket runs of 2024 alongside other awards such as Best Dressed, Worst Clip and a surprise award of Robbie Clip of the Year. The full presentation of the awards was posted to YouTube.
Team Regen also requested that attendees arrive to the event in their best formal wear, to celebrate the final Ultimate event Team Regen had put together. Team Regen has not made any announcements about future events for other games at this time.

Wade ‘AggresiveDuck’ White is a tournament and event organiser for Super Smash Brothers Ultimate in London and Essex, with events reaching as many as 250+ attendees.
Wade originally started in esports by entering in amateur Dota 2 leagues before moving into the FGC scene with Smash Ultimate in 2018, competing in offline events in the UK and Europe.
