The British Esports Federation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Turkish Esports Federation (Türkiye Espor Federasyonu).

Together, they will organise online and in-person esports tournaments and events between the UK and Türkiye, and develop high school and university curriculum programmes linked to esports.

The agreement will also see the pair supporting the leadership and governance of European and International Esports Federations, and build and operate national esports facilities. British Esports, which has its own National Esports Performance Campus (NEPC) in Sunderland, wants to take its own learnings to help other federations launch their own facilities.

The MOU will also focus on the development of education and training programmes, and aim to ramp up professional standards in esports. This news comes shortly after British Esports launched new esports coaching and safeguarding courses.

British Esports said in the following post on LinkedIn: “We’re pleased to announce another significant step forward in international esports collaboration.

“We look forward to working closely with the Turkish Esports Federation to drive innovation and increase access to esports education resources and facilities.”

The Turkish Esports Federation added: “We are committing to cooperate on a number of issues such as training, competition, facility development and recognition of professional standards.

“We hope that this agreement, in which both federations take this important step and open the doors to a new era in the world of esports, will be beneficial for both countries.”

The announcement follows a similar Memorandum of Understanding signed between British Esports and the Saudi Esports Federation in October 2023.
