Shipley College has announced a partnership with London’s university-level College of Esports.
The signing brings together the two bodies in esports education in their respective regions.
Shipley College was the first in West Yorkshire to introduce esports as a further education course. Its alumni are already making waves in theesports sector, backed by teaching staff—including former FIFA Top 100 player Nathan Horton.
College of Esports is the institution based at Lee Valley VeloPark, which offers university degrees in esports.
For students in West Yorkshire, it means they will no longer need to leave the area to access specialist training, connections and insight from industry leaders, and career pathways in esports, according to a press release.
Students will gain access to further insight in competitive gaming, broadcasting, event management and digital enterprise.
“This partnership marks a major milestone in our commitment to delivering cutting-edge esports education. By collaborating with the College of Esports, we are providing students with an unparalleled pathway into the gaming industry.”
