Skill Gap signs UK streamer as ambassador: New LoL mechanics training tool aims to be ‘the AimLab for League of Legends’

United Gamers' Skill Gap hopes to be 'the AimLab for League of Legends'

Skill Gap, a new League of Legends training tool hoping to be ‘the AimLab for League of Legends’, has partnered with UK streamer Dragdar.

The platform was built by Spanish company United Gamers, which is billed as ‘a digital academy where esports players can improve their knowledge, skills and health’.

Skill Gap simulates different scenarios from League of Legends and allows players to train under certain circumstances, for example hitting a certain amount of skillshots with a specific style of champion, or dodging abilities, practicing movements, kiting and last-hitting.

While League of Legends has an in-built training tool, it’s essentially a recreation of the normal Summoner’s Rift map, and doesn’t allow you to fully customise certain specifics. Skill Gap is looking to fill a gap in the market, and has enlisted several streamers and personalities to help it do that, including Australian coach Rogue. It’s also aiming to strike deals with esports teams.

The platform has partnered with UK streamer and ADC player, Dragdar, who posted about the training tool below. He’s a product advisor and ambassador for Skill Gap.

Skill Gap currently has three free training tasks: aim and map, dodge and shootvival.

Its paid option costs €4.99 per month, lowering to €3.99 when paying quarterly, or €2.99 when paying annually. This includes 25 training tasks, 14 styles of champions, and a personalised daily routine.

The company is also seeking further investment. The company closed its first investment round back in 2020, securing €150,000, and also closed a €325,000 round in 2022.

Skill Gap’s management team includes CEO Xavi Martínez and COO Ferran Llobet, as well as Dr Joan Solé.

The company previously conducted a pilot study at the University of Barcelona, where players trained for 30 minutes a day using the tool for three weeks. The study found that players increased their skill in the game from 23% (gold elo) to 138% (iron elo). Platinum and Diamond players increased their skill by 33%.

The training tool hopes to be the ‘AimLab for League of Legends’. AimLabs being a popular aim training first-person shooter tool.
