UK streamer Megan Garner, aka megsoundslikeegg, aka Fnatic Meg, has revealed all the details about Team UK in the Valorant Spike Nations 2024 tournament.
She is ambassador for the team, one of six national sides competing over the coming weeks.
The Fnatic content creator, who is celebrating her 27th birthday today, held a stream yesterday evening talking about the event and getting the thoughts of Team UK coach PAL and player ZachKappa.
Meg also told Esports News UK on stream today: “Cor blimey, mate! Can’t believe I’m representing the UK for Spike Nations.
“Bloody hell! I hope the Royal Family watch.
“Custard creams.”
The players are listed further in this article.
The news comes after Team UK finished runners-up in the 2023 Spike Nations, behind Türkiye.
What is Valorant Spike Nations?
Spike Nations is an annual tournament that sees national teams go head-to-head and aims to unite ambassadors, players, coaches and fans in each nation.
It has a €15,000 prize pool this year, with €8,000 for first place, €4,000 for second, €1,500 for third and €1,500 for fourth.
Team UK are one of six teams, with the others including Spain, Italy, France, Türkiye and Germany. They will battle each other in a best-of-one single round robin format, with the top four teams advancing.
There will be two phases: the national phase this month, and the international phase in November to early December 2024.
From 18 November, the international phase will take place. The six countries will play against each other in a Single Round Robin format until 27 November. A few days later, the top four teams will face each other in the Semi-Finals on Bo3 (1 December), with the ambition to qualify for the Grand Final, which will be held on Bo5 on 2 December.
Team ambassadors are able to draft players from VCT EMEA, Valorant Challengers and Game Changers tournaments, before streaming a set of trials to pick their main six players.
The semi-finals will then be a best-of-three, ahead of the best-of-five grand final.
The competition, which is organised by GGTech Entertainment, is part of Riot Games’ official VCT Off Season event framework and is supported by Twitch.
