Copper Box Arena has secured a bronze award for the Most Versatile Venue at the Conference & Events Awards 2024.
The event took place at City Central at the HAC in London. The gold winner was Manchester Central and silver was Tobacco Dock.
The Copper Box Arena, which is managed by GLL, a charitable social enterprise and worker-owned cooperative operating under the community-brand Better, hosts esports, culture, sports and entertainment events with a maximum seating capacity of 7,500.
The arena has played host to top esports tournaments such as Apex Legends ALGS, League of Legends MSI 2023 (pictured above), Clash Royale, Call of Duty, and Rocket League events (including the recent RLCS London Major 2024 won by G2 Stride).
It’s also served as the home ground for sports teams including the London Lions basketball teams and London Pulse netball team.
Copper Box Arena has also hosted international events, conferences, and product launches, such as the Billie Jean King Cup and the unveiling of the Fiat 500. It has also been the venue for major boxing matches, featuring fighters like Dereck Chisora and Joe Joyce.
Daniel Le Grange, Head of National Events at GLL, said:
“GLL takes pride in its expansive national events portfolio featuring renowned venues such as Lee Valley VeloPark, Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre, Crystal Palace National Sports Centre and many others.”
Edward Fane, Head of Venues at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, added: “This is a richly deserved result for the GLL team. Copper Box Arena goes from strength to strength serving its local residents with excellent facilities and staging world-class events throughout the year. The venue plays a key role in helping to cement the amazing legacy of the London 2012 Games.”
Copper Box Arena recently signed a new 10-year contract with partners London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) to host more esports and other events in the future.
