A trio of MSI 2023 AR statues have appeared outside the Copperbox Arena for the final week of MSI in London.
The three statues of League of Legends champions each represent a signature pick from different European pro players.
The MSI 2023 AR statues have the following plaques:
- Caps champion pick: LeBlanc, The Pale Sorceress, “For my next trick I’ll make their life bar disappear”
- Humanoid champion pick: Orianna, The Lady of Clockwork, “I know what makes them tick, I know how to make the ticking stop”
- Jankos champion pick: Lee Sin, A Principle Warrior Monk, “Master yourself, master the enemy”
- Perkz champion pick: Kai’Sa, Daughter of the Void, “This is my purpose, learn from me”
The statues will remain outside the Copperbox Arena for the remainder of MSI, with the grand final taking place on Sunday May 21st. While they feature players not at MSI, it seems the aim was to show EU being united for MSI.
The statues contain a QR code, allowing fans to access an augmented reality activity from their phone.
The one we scanned brought up an augmented reality Kai’Sa statue, featuring the MSI 2023 AR statues ‘Defy’ graffiti branding. You can see this in the fourth piece of media in our following tweet:
After the Kai’Sa MSI 2023 AR statues activity, a video plays, featuring various EU League of Legends players, including Perkz and Kaiser from Team Vitality.
A narrator says: “London, a city of power for centuries. Throughout history, forces have battled to rule the city. Now teams will contest a new crown, until just one winner remains, to unite the region in glory.”
Perkz added:
Kaiser said: “They’ll defy all expectations to ensure that our legacy will last. But we support the history makers, and they’re taking up the prize.”
Riot is also running a competition to do with the MSI 2023 AR statues:
Riot has organised other outdoor marketing in London in the past, including a Hextech Expo pop-up store to promote League of Legends Netflix show Arcane.
The latest piece of outdoor marketing aims to bring some togetherness for EU League of Legends, with EU’s last hope at MSI 2023, G2 Esports, playing against China’s BLG today (May 16th 2023).
