Riot Games has teamed up with theatrical distribution company Piece of Magic Entertainment to bring LEC viewing parties to UK cinemas this year.
The LEC Spring, Summer and Season Finals will be shown in cinemas across the EMEA region, not just in the UK.
A press contact told Esports News UK that due to the short timeframe, Piece of Magic were unable to lock in cinemas for the upcoming Spring LEC final, however they have UK sites for the Summer (July 30th) and Season Finals (September 10th) confirmed which are due to be announced soon.
Update (June 20th 2023): These have now been revealed, with a host of UK cinemas on the booking page.
A list of UK cinemas is announced on the website link above, with fans able to book these LEC viewing parties.
Select cinemas across EMEA will show the LEC Spring Finals on April 23rd 2023, with the Summer and Season Finals to follow later in 2023, bringing League of Legends players and fans together to watch the LEC on the big screen.
Up to 70 territories will host the LEC viewing parties overall.
Eva Suarez, Head of Esports Partnerships EMEA at Riot Games, said:
“We’re so excited to be able to bring the hype of the LEC Spring and Summer Finals, as well as our crown-jewel LEC Season Finals to screens around EMEA. Piece of Magic is returning as a partner and we couldn’t be happier.”
Eva Suarez, Riot Games
“They did amazing work helping us bring the LEC Summer Finals in Malmö last year to more fans than ever before, and we can’t wait to see their work again for the upcoming finals.”
”It is our great pleasure and privilege to bring the LEC Finals to audiences, together with our passionate and committed partner Riot Games, for the fifth year running,” said Caspar Nadaud, CEO and Founder of Piece of Magic Entertainment.
“As lovers of esports and the incredible community that surrounds it, we are thrilled to offer fans the opportunity to experience together the ultimate showdown, through the immersive and unparalleled big screen environment. We cannot wait to see fans pack cinemas around the world to cheer on their favourite teams!”
Earlier this year, an independent survey found that half of LEC fans don’t have a viewing party in their area.
