Update: The winners of Red Bull Wololo 2022 are Chim Sẻ Đi Nắng in the Age of Empires I competition, TaToH in Age of Empires II, and MarineLorD in Age of Empires VI.
A total prize pool of $550,000 was up for grabs, and more than 80,000 viewers tuned in to see the live audience LAN event, taking part in the Castle Heidelberg in Southern Germany.
Original article: Details for this year’s 1v1 Age of Empires (AoE) Red Bull Wololo tournament finals have been revealed, and a few UK players are getting involved.
UK players Benjamin ‘DeMusliM’ Baker of Team Liquid and ‘RecoN’ are both taking part in the AoE: IV section of the Legacy LAN Final, with UK caster Darren ‘KillerPigeon’ Elmy a part of the broadcast talent line-up.
Red Bull Wololo will once again take place at Castle Heidelberg in Germany, as the event celebrates 25 years of Age of Empires for 2022.
This year also sees the return of Riley ‘RLYKNGHT’ Knight as host of the tournament, with ‘Ellie4k’ on board as the roving reporter and Kevin ‘MapuTV’ Kremserplus as a specialist.
‘Winstons Waffles’ and Keaton ‘Aussie_Drongo’ will take the lead as casters for the AoE I tournament, while Sven ‘Nili’ Reichardt, Dave ‘Dave’ Burchett, Daniel ‘MembTV’ Molina and Tristan ‘T90’ Berry will take up the reins as casters across the AoE II and AoE IV tournaments. The aforementioned KillerPigeon – who hosted the UK final of Red Bull River Runes Dota 2 tournament a few years ago – will be involved in the AoE IV tournament too.
Paying homage to the history of Age of Empires, Red Bull Wololo: Legacy invites the best players from across the globe to enter a medieval-themed competition and prove themselves in the biggest Age of Empires tournament to date. There have been many routes to qualification, spanning open qualifiers, community events, progression through official Microsoft and partner circuits, and direct invitations.
On Twitch, the event will be broadcast in English, German, and Spanish.
On October 21st to 30th, competitors will battle in Castle Heidelberg for the crown live on Red Bull Twitch and Red Bull Gaming YouTube channels. Broadcasts will be from 1pm to 9pm BST.
Partners at the event will include AGON by AOC, AMD and Backforce.
