UK League of Legends caster and streamer Marc ‘Caedrel’ Lamont has made a guest appearance in Evil Geniuses’ music video for Worlds 2022.
The LEC caster and streamer for Excel Esports (who Caedrel rejoined earlier this year) made a cameo halfway through the video, which was posted after the North American team progressed to the Worlds group stage, knocking out EU’s Mad Lions in the process.
The music video, a parody of ‘Her’ by Megan Thee Stallion, stars a trio of American esports personalities: Evil Geniuses (EG) CEO Nicole LaPointe Jameson, broadcast talent Ovilee May and caster CaptainFlowers.
The song, which taps into the age-old NA vs EU rivalry in esports, also features dancers wearing masks of players.
Evil Geniuses beat Mad Lions 3-0 in a qualification decider on October 4th, something that EG gloated about in the video, with Ovilee stepping over a dancer wearing an LEC mask, who is laying on the floor, defeated.
Caedrel pops up around the 1:08 mark, saying: “Is this what the [North American] LCS spends their time doing instead of scrimming? And Ovilee, you’re never gonna get an ass like Megan.”
Megan is a reference to Megan Thee Stallion, whose ‘Her’ song is parodied by Evil Geniuses.
Some of the lyrics, written by Ovilee May and CaptainFlowers, include the lines: “Imagine spending 7 mil on a roster and not making Worlds… Couldn’t be me… Just the other day, I heard EU say, Matter fact, what could EU say, with a group this weak and a team that slays, Shit, what could EU say?
“The squad this capable, with Impact leading ‘em Wildcard teams, be askin’, who feedin’ em But EG outclassing, harassing, surpassing, Send your asses home, this our turf you trespassing. All you regions know that it’s time to go, or you boutta get hit with the ratio.”
The song was well-received by the community, with it receiving almost 5,000 upvotes on Reddit and hundreds of positive comments on socials and YouTube.
The tune dropped after the official Worlds 2022 song was released a few weeks ago – ‘Star Walkin’ – by Lil Nas X, who also ‘joined’ Riot Games as president as a marketing stunt.
‘Bye Bye Bifrost’ – UK League also gets its own latest song courtesy of Ruddy Esports
Looking towards somewhere closer to home, and UK League of Legends esports organisation, Ruddy Esports, have released their own parody of another song: Nsync’s ‘Bye Bye Bye’.
Titled ‘Bye Bye Bifrost’, it comes as NLC Division 3 org Ruddy Face Division 1 side Bifrost in the NLC Aurora Open Pro-Am tournament, and features Ruddy CEO DonJake.
