Insomnia Gaming Festival will host a Rocket League esports tournament for the first time in a few years this summer.
Organisers announced a Rocket League BYOC Open for Insomnia69 (i69), which will take place at the Birmingham NEC from August 26th to 29th 2022.
It has a prize pool of at least £2,250 (with a minimum of eight teams), rising to £3,750 for more than 64 teams taking part.
There will also be an intermediate tournament with a £150 prize pool.
Rocket League has taken place at various Insomnias over the years, including at i57 when Belgian Rocket League team Sector One beat UK’s TCA 4-3 in final.
There will also be other esports tournaments returning from Insomnia68, which took place in April this year, including Valorant, League of Legends, CSGO and Overwatch. The CSGO tournament at i68 suffered server problems and delays, but organisers say they will be better prepared for i69.
“We had lots of solid feedback about our i68 tournaments and we are making various changes for the next event to ensure that the tournament beats expectations, including investing in a higher quality server solution and a simpler, cleaner qualifier format and higher prize weighting to the top teams,” organisers said on the i69 esports page.
Insomnia69 will also host a £5,000 Team Fortress 2 open esports tournament, bringing the total number of esports opens at the LAN event to six.
Overwatch will have a £4,500 minimum prize pool, LoL £3,750, CSGO £5,000 and Valorant £5,000.
There will also be a Rainbow Six Siege qualifier at i69 for UKIN, taking place in the BYOC area.
Cosplay competitions will also be returning to i69 too.
Esports participants at Insomnia69 need to sign up for a Battlefy account to enter, and join the tournament in pre-formed teams. You can also join the official Insomnia Discord server in a bid to find more players.
