The UK’s biggest LAN is finally back, and the UK League of Legends community is coming together to battle it out (and trade banter!) at the Insomnia 68 Open.
One organisation from the Northern League of Legends Championship (NLC) Division 2 has signed up – Verdant.
And they have an interesting team, having brought JD XL coach Torok in as their support player.
Verdant founder and owner Sam ‘Sami’ Cunningham told Esports News UK: “Being a British organisation, it’s very important to us to support local tournaments where possible, as well as enable players to be able to attend. Having been to many i-series/Insomnias before, it was very important to me for Verdant to become a regular attendee, this is just the first of many.
“We’ve been competing online for six months now as an organisation, but finally get the chance to attend an offline event! We’ve had a tough year so far, but I’m really keen make a statement at this event and get ourselves some offline results!”

On Torok playing, Sami added: “This is completely separate to Excel. We’re really happy to have Torok on the team and appreciate Excel’s willingness to allow him to play for us. Torok brings his strategic mind from coaching and is able to implement it in real time during the game. The other teams have no chance against us with his big brain tactics.”
Former UK LoL regular Governor has also formed a team to play in the LoL open at i68, Brod & Friends, and he’s already traded some banter with Verdant, with Sami returning it.
Other teams taking part include Grey Warwick, the name of the University of Warwick LoL team, and Team Solo Milk, a creative name for a team led by the original mum of UK LoL, Sonaboner Rachel Dean.
She is joined by her minions and UK LoL players Snuggli and Tyrin, as well as Admawodo and Syn and UK LoL OG WaWa.
LDN UTD esports manager and former UKEL supremo Synygy is also playing on Zeri Players Anonymous with Emiletsdance and others.
