The Amazon University Esports Masters (UEM) is officially kicking off its 2022 edition with another annual League of Legends competition, featuring the best uni teams from across Europe.
The group phase is taking place from March 19th to April 3rd, with 22 university teams from across 15 countries aiming to reach the grand finals in June.
For this season, GGTech, NUEL and Confetti have teamed up to produce the broadcast for League of Legends (12 game days’ worth) in Confetti’s facilities, with four of Confetti’s Esports Production students running the key production roles, supported by Confetti, GGTech and NUEL staff.
Amazon UEM gathers the university teams that led the spring season in League of Legends, Rocket League, Teamfight Tactics and Clash Royale, and provides them with the chance of representing their institution and their country against top competitors from across Europe.
In this year’s edition, the LoL tournament will feature university teams from:
- The UK (U. of Bristol, U. of Warwick)
- Spain (U. of La Laguna, U. Málaga)
- France (U. Lyon, U. Sorbonne Paris Nord)
- Poland (Politechnika Gdańska, AGH U. of Science and Technology)
- Italy (Politecnico di Milano, U. Bocconi); Turkey (Bahçeşehir U., Bursa Uludag U.)
- Germany (U. Bremen, Karlsruhe Inst. of Technology); Lithuania (Kaunas Tech. U.)
- Ireland (U. College Cork); Slovakia (Slovak U. of Technology)
- The Netherlands (U. of Twente)
- Hungary (Budapest U. of Tech. & Economics)
- Czechia (Mendelova U. v Brně)
- Belgium (U. Libre de Bruxelles)
- Portugal (Instituto Superior Técnico)
The schedule is as follows:

“The best teams and players in each competition will achieve the title of ‘Esports European Academic Champions’, sharing the total prize pool of €24,500,” said Marcin Rausch, UEM project manager.
“This is a fantastic event which is full of emotions, engagement and competition. You are welcome to join us on the broadcast to feel this incredible energy.”
In Rocket League there will be two days of broadcast (playoffs and finals), whereas for TFT and CR only the finals will be broadcast.
The Amazon University Esports Masters competition has partners including Riot Games, Intel and Twitch Student.
Last year, UK university esports bodies – NUEL and NSE – announced they would be teaming up to provide slots in the University Esports Masters.
NUEL recently announced its Amazon University Esports 2022 Spring Split with more than £24,000 worth of prizes available to students in the UK and Ireland.
LoL’s group phase, playoffs and grand finals will be broadcast through the following links: twitch.tv/uemasters (in English), and twitch.tv/universityesportstv (in Spanish).
