eBlitz, a new company based in London, UK, hopes to prevent toxicity in competitive video games with its new matchmaking app.
Investment banker Aaron Wu founded eBlitz in April 2020 after experiencing an unfriendly atmosphere with toxic players. He gave up his role in the finance world to focus efforts into creating a gaming app where non-toxic gamers could play together.
The app gives players a chance to match, chat, play and rate other similar players, and also tracks in-game stats so players can match with those who have similar skill levels. Once players swipe to match, the app links the players, puts them in a Discord chat and allows them to tap to start a Fortnite lobby from the app.
eBlitz currently focuses on Fortnite, though the team has told Esports News UK they hope to branch out into other most-requested titles including CSGO, League of Legends and more.
“eBlitz will be game agnostic,” a spokesperson said. “We focused on one game – Fortnite – during our early development period in order to focus our resources on user experience and building a community, rather than further game integration.
“During our recent user research, the top five games players wanted to use eBlitz for were Fortnite, Call of Duty, PUBG, CS:GO and League of Legends, so we hope to branch into covering all of those titles – and more – as soon as possible.”
“We are a company that is dedicated to improving the matchmaking system of online games by providing a platform that allows players to find non-toxic, community-rated players in a single swipe on our app. We are just setting our foundations right now, but with our app just leaving it’s beta stage, we are growing fast as we expand our audience and player base.”
Since its release from Beta to Android and iOS stores back in June 2021, the eBlitz app amassed over 11,000 registered users in less than two months.
eBlitz head of growth, Luke Elden, added: “This has been an encouraging start for the eBlitz app and for our mission of creating a trusted, non-toxic platform. We are really looking forward to watching the gaming world change for the better and being at the centre of this.”
eBlitz has grown to a team of nine, consisting of app developers and marketers.
