Fortnite, love it or loathe it, is the shooter game that has taken the world by storm – it’s even more popular than online casinos. Recently, Fortnite released a major news update and fans of the game are going to love it. On November 27th, Epic Games announced that gifting would be active on the new update – and you won’t have to wait long to access it, because it’s actually available right now.
With update 6.31, players will be granted an initial gifting period which will last one week after the release of the update – meaning you have until Monday December 4th to make use of this feature.
What is Gifting?
Well, this is a simple process which is available to all players – except for those playing on iOS devices, what with Apple’s policies prohibiting it. Head to the item shop and choose an item to purchase, you will now be presented with two options:
- Purchase Items
- Buy as a Gift
When choosing the ‘Buy as a Gift’ option, you will be able to choose which friend you want to send the gift to. Fortnite will wrap it in a lovely bow and even allow you to add a custom message if you’d like to. After that, your chosen mate will receive the item the next time they log in.
Important Information
Before you can gift an item, there are a few things you need to do: firstly, two-factor authentication (2FA for short) must be enabled on your account. But what is it?
As stated on the Fortnite website: “Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) can be used to help protect your account from unauthorized access by requiring you to enter an additional code when you sign in. The Two-Factor Authentication feature currently supports the use of an authenticator app or an email address authentication method.
“Once you’ve opted into Two-Factor Authentication, you will be asked to enter the code from your preferred two-factor authentication method, then you will be signed into your account. You will be prompted for the two-factor passcode the first time you sign in after enabling the feature, if you use a new device, if it’s been over 30 days since you last signed in or if you’ve cleared your browser cookies recently.”
Other rules state:
- You must have been friends with the person you are wishing to gift to, for more than 48hours
- You will only be able to gift three times within a 24-hour period
- Gifts purchased are non-refundable
- You can only gift items that are currently available to purchase in the shop
