King of the North 2017 winners

The King of the North UK esports tournament took place last month and three teams were crowned winners.

  • CSGO – 8TH Legion, University of Portsmouth
  • Overwatch – UOB Zeus, University of Birmingham
  • LoL – Grey Warwick, University of Warwick

Its organisers, the University of Manchester’s Esports Society, have had successful events over the past few years, with in-house tournaments, NUEL events, and other activities for the general public to get involved with.
This year they introduced Overwatch to their list of live NUEL tournaments.
KotN also put emphasis on popular games like Super Smash Bros and Street Fighter V for the public to get involved with. There were on-the-day sign ups for these tournaments, so anyone in the area could try their luck at Manchester’s best SFV or SSB player.
Furthermore, there was a host of guest companies demonstrating products and new technologies. Last year, ENUK’s Craig Robinson tried VR for the first time at one of the demo booths, which was an interesting experience!
For more information on the event, you can visit the King of the North Facebook page or their website for more details.
