UK organisation Aerox Esports have a new owner with big ambitions.
Davey Stevens, experienced in the Call of Duty scene, purchased Aerox about a month ago and hopes to really push the org on to the next level.
So why Aerox?
“I used to own Regret Gaming about four or five years ago, it was quite successful with a lot of members and LAN attendances,” Davey tells Esports News UK.
“After retiring from competitive CoD in 2013 due to no time (kids, work) I decided to come back and look for a well established org to work with. Aerox has a great brand name. They finished second at i-series and work with some great companies.
“Luckily the previous owner James was selling due to working with another org in the community and didn’t have the time for both.
“My ambitions are to take Aerox to the next level, with the help of our private investors who will help send our teams around the world and in the UK to compete, to hopefully one day take the first place spot at LAN events.”
“I’d say the new team Aerox are one of the top – if not the best – amateur teams in the EU scene right now.”
While Aerox have dabbled in League of legends and Counter-Strike in the past, they are now mainly focused on Call of Duty, though Davey says he’s been in talks with a few Rocket League, Battlefield and CSGO teams.
In terms of what’s next, Aerox will be attending ESWC in France in February, then they’re off to i-series in Birmingham and EGL Sheffield.
Davey is confident of his CoD team – and is keen on giving back to the community.
“I’d say the new team Aerox are one of the top – if not the best – amateur teams in the EU scene right now,” he said. “They’re coached by Luke Pentecost, a professional in the Call of Duty scene, and we plan to go very far. We come out on top of every amateur team in 2k Gamebattles tournament placements. There are only pro teams above us.
“We will be doing a lot of charity events. Our streamers will be taking part in long marathons to raise money for the likes of Macmillon Cancer Support etc. Also we have invested a lot of money into giving back to the community, we have giveaways going on every day over at Fade Grips.
“I’d also like to say a massive thank you to our sponsors for supporting us – FadeGrips, TheGamerDuck, Gamer born, Gamers Apparel, SharQ controllers, GTOmegaRacing & CSdips.
“We have some very exciting news to release in the next few weeks and are in some long talks with some massive UK companies.”
