New organisation VeloxGG is waving goodbye to competitive UK Overwatch.
The org had a brief but promising stint in the weekly UK Overwatch Ballistix Cups (narrowly missing out on beating Choke in one final), plus other tournaments, but have decided to call it a day.
VeloxGG had high hopes in the UK scene, but have quit due to a financial reasons.
“It’s been common knowledge over the past few months that the VeloxGG organization has been making a huge push towards the UK Overwatch scene and UK Overwatch in general,” said Velox owner Mark “Oracle” Hare.
“We’ve put in countless hours of research and scouting in attempts to build a successful team. Due to the natural challenges of operating an organization with teams across the world, I have decided to close down the Overwatch operations of VeloxGG indefinitely.
“My decision has nothing to do with the roster, but is entirely a personal decision based on a financial standpoint.”
VeloxGG will however remain as an organisation, and will be unveiling their Battlefield roster in the months ahead. It’s also on the lookout for CSGO and Rocket League players in North America.
Oracle also took the time to thank some of the members of the team for their hard work.
“Awake is a natural leader and a brilliant coach. He helped the organisation in more ways that you can simply imagine. I would absolutely recommend Tom to anyone who is actively seeking someone to fill the role of coach within their organization,” Oracle added.
“Without the guidance and direction that Izzy (Noukky) brought to the table, Velox would have never had a team. She played such a vital role within the organisation and helped to recruit a majority of the current roster. I would absolutely recommend her to any organisation who is looking to get serious about their team’s skill and ambition.”
